Imagine spending 12 hours on an Airbus A330 only to land back where you started. 😳
SAS’s inaugural Copenhagen–Mumbai flight was forced to turn around over Azerbaijan after the airline reportedly failed to receive final approval from Indian authorities.
The route would have been the first-ever nonstop link between Copenhagen and Mumbai, with a water cannon salute waiting on arrival.
Instead, Flight SK969 became a flight to nowhere.

✈️🌍 Jazeera Airways is expanding its European footprint with a new UK route.
Starting July 8, the Kuwaiti LCC will launch nonstop flights between Kuwait (KWI) and London Luton (LTN), initially operating 4x weekly before ramping up to daily service from August 1.

The route will be flown by Airbus A320neo aircraft, strengthening connectivity between Kuwait and the UK market. 🇰🇼🇬🇧

🚀✈️ American Airlines is leveling up connectivity in a big way.
Starting Q1 2027, the airline will equip over 500 narrowbody aircraft with Starlink Wi-Fi, including Airbus A321neo and A321XLR fleets.
Powered by low-Earth-orbit broadband, passengers can expect fast, gate-to-gate internet capable of streaming, gaming, video calls, and real-time connectivity across domestic and short-haul international routes. 🌐📶

Air India and IndiGo are cutting hundreds of flights between June and August as soaring fuel prices and the fallout from the US-Iran conflict continue to hit airline operations.
With the two airlines controlling over 90% of the domestic market, passengers across India could see fewer frequencies, schedule changes, and higher pressure on routes this summer. ✈️

🇦🇹✈️ A fresh step forward for Austrian Airlines’ long-haul fleet!
The airline’s third Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner has just arrived in Vienna in its new livery and is set to make its passenger debut on 1 June, flying to Montreal.

This marks another milestone in Austrian’s fleet modernization journey, which began in 2024. With two Dreamliners already in service and a total of 12 expected by winter 2028/29, the airline is steadily building a more efficient, modern long-haul fleet.

Airline stocks are flying high! 📈 On Monday, Qantas and Virgin Australia saw shares jump over 5% intraday as oil prices cooled off. With fuel costs being the biggest wildcard for airline margins lately, this is a breath of fresh air for the industry. Is this the start of a trend, or just a temporary relief? ✈️💸

Saudia has officially become the first Middle Eastern airline to take delivery of the Airbus A321XLR, marking a new era for long-haul narrowbody operations in the region.

Qatar Airways has reported a massive US$1.94 billion net profit for the financial year ✈️💰
Despite tighter schedules and reduced capacity, the airline still managed to grow revenue and deliver one of the strongest results in the industry.

Interestingly, both Singapore Airlines and Emirates recently announced staff bonuses following their strong profit results… but so far, no bonus announcement has been made by Qatar Airways.

Ethiopian Airlines is in early talks with Airbus for a major fleet move ✈️
The carrier is reportedly considering 20 Airbus A220s plus 6 A350s as part of a plan to both replace and expand its regional and domestic operations.

If finalized, it would be a strong dual push: the A220 for short-haul efficiency and the A350 for long-haul growth, reinforcing Ethiopian’s already aggressive expansion strategy across Africa and beyond.

AirAsia’s big move is putting the A220-300 firmly on low-cost radar ✈️
The airline is adding the aircraft to complement its A321neo fleet, aiming for a smaller, high-density jet that still keeps unit costs low.

What was once seen as a regional premium-ish narrowbody is now clearly being repositioned for LCC operations and AirAsia might just open the door for other low-cost carriers to follow. What do you think?

Melbourne welcomed it today ✈️🇦🇺🇲🇻
First-ever direct flight from Malé to Australia just landed after a 10-hour journey, opening a brand-new nonstop link between the Maldives and Australia.

Until now, passengers mainly had to connect via Colombo and other hubs, adding hours and complexity to the trip.
This new route changes that, cutting travel time, improving connectivity, and strengthening tourism and business links between the two regions.
