This was supposed to be Lucy's first weekend back home in seven weeks. That did not happen. Whether it is because of bureaucratic torpidity or those with the power to release her giving the knife one last twist, she is still in a cell.
Prayers for good news tomorrow. #SaveLucy
🚨 FIVE YEARS OF SECOND CHANCES 🚨
Five years ago, I made a promise to animals that had been abandoned, abused, neglected, forgotten, and discarded.
I promised them they would never have to wonder if they were safe again.
I promised them that someone would fight for them.
For five years, we have kept that promise.
Together, we have rescued countless animals, built a sanctuary from raw land, weathered floods, freezes, medical emergencies, and heartbreak, and continued showing up every single day for the animals who call Layla’s Heart Ranch & Rescue home.
Today, I am asking for your help.
The truth is that animal rescues across the country are struggling. Donations are down. Expenses continue to rise. Many rescues are being forced to close their doors.
I don’t want Layla’s Heart Ranch & Rescue to become one of them.
In the last week alone, we faced more than $5,000 in unexpected veterinary expenses.
King required emergency surgery that cost $1,700.
Then Picante underwent surgery to remove two masses. One was a fatty growth, but the other was described by our veterinarian as one of the nastiest masses they had seen. We are now waiting for biopsy results and praying for good news.
Picante’s surgery and diagnostics cost more than $3,500.
Like we always do, we said yes.
Because when one of our animals needs help, there is never a question.
We choose treatment.
We choose to fight for them.
We choose them.
Every single time.
But after Picante’s surgery, our account was left with only a few hundred dollars.
The animals don’t know donations are down.
They don’t know veterinary bills are piling up.
They don’t know rescues everywhere are struggling.
They only know that this is home.
They only know they are loved.
And I will fight with everything I have to keep it that way.
As we approach our 5-year anniversary on July 5th, we are launching the biggest fundraiser in our history:
🎉 $100,000 FOR FIVE YEARS OF SECOND CHANCES 🎉
This isn’t about one dog.
This isn’t about one emergency.
This is about protecting the future of Layla’s Heart Ranch & Rescue and ensuring that the animals already here continue to receive the care, safety, and love they deserve.
For five years, I have never given up on them.
Today, I am asking you to help me keep that promise.
If every person who has ever followed our journey donated just $5, we could change the future of this rescue.
Please donate if you can.
Please share if you can’t.
And please keep our animals in your prayers.

Please Pray for Adeline 🙏
Adeline needs big help right now. She cannot survive without a blood transfusion, and Jack Jack’s Pack Rescue’s bill is already over $8,000.
Please share this far and wide. Adeline did not ask to be dumped. She did not ask to be starved. Her suffering is the result of human failure and apathy.
Now she needs people to show her that kindness still exists. Please help save this sweet soul. 😭
Please donate here:

*Jack Jacks-Pack is a non-profit street dog rescue in Central Texas.
Ruby doesn’t know she was surrendered.
She doesn’t know a decision was made.
She only knows her family disappeared.
A volunteer took her out expecting to comfort a scared dog and ended up sitting on the floor with her while she pressed in close, buried her face, and quietly asked not to be left again.
Ruby is a 1-year-old Shepherd / Belgian Malinois mix. Housebroken. Good with kids. Good with other dogs.
She’s at Cobb County Animal Services in Marietta, GA.
One share can be the difference between another night in a kennel and somebody saying come on girl, let’s go home.

🚨AFTER NEARLY 8 MONTHS IN A SHELTER KENNEL, QUESTIONS ARE GROWING ABOUT SNUGGLES' QUALITY OF LIFE AND THE COST TO TAXPAYERS
TUCSON, AZ — Snuggles, a 2-year-old livestock guardian dog belonging to a military veteran and his family, has spent nearly eight months at Pima Animal Care Center following a first-time bite incident that occurred on his family's property.
His family has reportedly been charged more than $15,000 in boarding fees while fighting the case through the court system.
The children's grandmother, who was the bite victim, has publicly asked that Snuggles be returned home.
As the case continues, new questions are emerging.
What is Snuggles' quality of life after nearly eight months in a shelter kennel?
What enrichment, exercise, socialization, and human interaction is he receiving?
Why is his family unable to receive updates about his condition?
As Tucson and Pima County face budget challenges and reports of staffing reductions, many residents are asking whether it makes financial sense to continue spending substantial public resources fighting this case instead of pursuing a resolution.
How much taxpayer money has already been spent on legal proceedings, administrative resources, court time, and personnel hours in a case where the owner, family, and even the bite victim are all seeking alternatives to euthanasia?
At a time when public resources are stretched thin, should hundreds of thousands of dollars be spent fighting over an accident, or should the focus be on finding a reasonable resolution?
Members of the public who would like answers are encouraged to respectfully contact Pima Animal Care Center and Pima County leadership.
