I'd love for everyone to share this and help us spread the word. We have some big goals for this year's Back 2 School Drive, and I truly believe we can make our biggest impact yet. A backpack. A notebook. A box of crayons. Small acts of kindness can change a child's school year. Let's come together as a community and show what's possible when people choose to help others. Ready to make a HUGE impact.
Our Back 2 School Drive is underway, and we need your help! Join us in making sure local students have the supplies they need to start the school year with confidence. Please drop off donations at @gvbacademy by August 9th. Every donation matters!📚🎒
Most coaches evaluate possessions by whether the shot went in. Elite coaches evaluate whether the possession created an advantage.
Did the offense force a tag?
Did the defense rotate?
Did the possession generate an open look?
Over large sample sizes, process beats outcome. Great teams understand that winning basketball is built on consistently creating quality possessions, not hoping difficult shots fall. SIMPLE wins!
One statistic every coach should study more closely is points per possession, because basketball is ultimately an efficiency game. The best teams consistently generate quality possessions... not just spectacular plays.
Good shot selection, offensive rebounding, limiting turnovers, creating paint touches, and forcing rotations all increase possession value over time. Elite basketball isn't built on highlight plays.
It's built on stacking small advantages over hundreds of possessions until the math becomes impossible to overcome.
Most people talk about confidence as if it's a feeling. Elite players understand confidence is often evidence-based.
Confidence comes from preparation.
Confidence comes from competence.
Confidence comes from thousands of repetitions against difficult environments.
When adversity hits, players don't rise to their expectations. They often fall to their level of preparation. The most confident players are usually the most prepared players.
Another Friday, another opportunity to get better! Workouts and 3x3 ✅
Appreciate all of those who came through and got better today. Back to work tomorrow. 😤
The best defensive teams don't rely solely on athleticism. They rely on connectivity. Analytics continue to show that elite defenses communicate earlier, rotate sooner, shrink driving gaps faster, and recover more efficiently than average defenses.
Defense is rarely one player's responsibility. It's a collective problem-solving exercise where five players must process information simultaneously and react as one unit.
Connected teams win.

One of the biggest mistakes in player development is confusing activity with productivity.
Getting 500 shots up sounds impressive.
But were they game shots?
Were they taken under pressure?
Did they include decision-making?
Did they simulate fatigue?
Were they tracked?
Elite players and programs don't just count reps. They measure the quality of reps because improvement comes from intentional practice, not simply volume.
Train with PURPOSE! To make shots in games, your training should mirror the opportunities you get.

And don’t forget game passes... pass from real angles, not just under the hoop. Create realistic reps to maximize results! 🏀 #TrainSmart

Many players think skill development is about adding more moves. The best development programs think differently. The goal isn't to have 50 moves. The goal is to have a few highly efficient solutions that work against elite defenders, under fatigue, in pressure situations, and against multiple coverages.
Research consistently shows that top performers don't necessarily have more options... they have better decision-making regarding when to use them. The best players aren't move collectors. They're problem solvers.
Elite teams don't spend all their time creating advantages. They spend enormous amounts of time learning how to preserve them. A great drive means nothing if the next pass is late. A paint touch means nothing if spacing collapses. A mismatch means nothing if players fail to recognize it.
The best teams understand that offense is often a chain reaction. One player creates the advantage. The next player extends it. The third player finishes it. Most teams focus on the first action. Elite teams master the second and third.
One of the most rewarding parts of coaching is watching players learn how to play the game the right way. Not just scoring more points, but understanding spacing, making reads, communicating, defending, and impacting winning.
When players embrace that process, growth follows. The game starts to slow down, opportunities increase, and confidence becomes earned. The players who commit to learning eventually separate themselves from those who only chase highlights.
Excited to get our Sunday session of the GVBA Summer 3x3 League rolling tonight! The Friday group brought great energy, competition, and a commitment to getting better, and we can't wait to see what the Sunday crew brings. Looking forward to a great summer. Let's get to work. 🏀
A few weeks ago, we had the opportunity to donate more than 50 pairs of shoes to @ChildSaving. We’re grateful for everything they do to support children and families throughout Omaha and beyond. Together, we can continue making a difference in our community. 🙏👟
CSI has had a tremendous impact on my life. Being able to give back and support an organization that has given so much to others is something I’m truly grateful for.
