I recently posted about Part I (link below 👇). Part II nails why stablecoins are game-changers: they slash remittance costs by 15% (IMF data) 💰 and empower 63% of unbanked Africans with smartphone-based finance.📱

Intra-African trade was $208 billion in 2024. Cross-border payment options are needed and stablecoins can have fees that are 1/20th the fees of other main avenues. (see chart from article👇)

Personally, I use stablecoins to pay my team in Africa 🌍 and a lot of other countries. 🌏🌎 I can't go back to the wire payment days where it's expensive, 💸 tedious ⏲️ and can only be done during US business hours. ⌚️ Give me a break!

For me, a major pain point is converting between USDT, USDC, or whatever the recipient needs (often due to local laws or fiat off-boarding options). 🔄 Plus, as countries legalize their own virtual currencies (valid only locally), cross-border swaps get trickier 😬
