CT's assault weapons ban is part of a bipartisan gun safety framework that helps keep us one of the safest states in the nation. We enacted it after unimaginable tragedy at Sandy Hook, and we will defend our right to ban these weapons in our state.
Connecticut remains committed to defending our values and protecting people’s rights. Transgender young people deserve to participate, compete, and belong. Here in CT, we love you, we want you here, and we’ll keep standing up for you.
The Supreme Court upheld birthright citizenship today, reaffirming a constitutional guarantee settled for over 150 years. Connecticut has always believed in this promise. We believe every family deserves the chance to build a life and call this state home.
Under old Connecticut law, contractors caught violating prevailing wage rules could still collect state payments even during a stop-work order. That loophole is closed. Today I signed legislation letting the comptroller withhold those payments until workers are made whole.

Connecticut stands with Puerto Rico. As the Island responds to its water infrastructure challenges, know that Connecticut stands ready to help however we can. We’ll continue working with our partners to identify meaningful ways to support the people of Puerto Rico.

It was a pleasure having @AndreDrummond stop by the Capitol today.
UConn alum, 1st round pick, 2x NBA All-Star, and one of the best ambassadors our state has. His work with young people in Connecticut speaks for itself. Proud to have him home.

Since 2019, Connecticut has protected nearly 14,000 acres through the state’s land protection program. Today we add 1,243 more across 15 communities. Open space isn’t just land; it’s where Connecticut families live, play, and thrive 🌳🍃
Since 2020, we’ve invested $4.2B in school construction. CT covers 57% of school construction costs vs. 19% nationally. This state investment reduces pressure on property taxes and local districts.
Fairfield’s Dwight Elementary is a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon school and it deserves a safe, accessible building to match. I am proud to announce a 75% reimbursement rate for the rebuild, representing roughly $57 million in state support.
Happy Father’s Day to the fathers and father figures across Connecticut.
Today we celebrate the men who lead with love, show up with strength, and make our families and communities stronger. Enjoy the day you’ve earned it.
