Governor of Colorado. Fighting for affordable health care, better education, an economy that works for everyone, and protecting our Colorado way of life.

Colorado is investing $32.8 million to reduce emissions, improve air quality, and support innovative technologies across the state. These investments will cut pollution from Colorado while helping businesses lower costs, create jobs, and build a cleaner, healthier future for Colorado communities.
Making Colorado a top ten safest state is a top priority. I was proud to sign new laws that make Colorado communities safer this year, building on the work we’ve done since taking office.
As wildfire seasons become longer and more challenging, investing in preparedness has never been more important. I’m proud of Colorado’s investments into our firefighters and response efforts, but there is always more work to do.
This week, hundreds of firefighters, emergency managers, and incident response professionals came together in Grand Junction to sharpen skills, strengthen coordination, and prepare to protect Colorado communities. The dedication of our firefighters helps keep Coloradans safe and ensures our state is ready to respond when it matters most.

This year I was proud to sign a balanced budget that protects the things Coloradans care about most: education and public safety while protecting fiscal responsibility. I continue working everyday to make Colorado better for everyone.
Colorado may not be hosting a 2026 World Cup match, but the Centennial State will still be on the world stage.
FIFA selected Colorado-grown grass for three U.S. World Cup stadiums in Atlanta, Dallas, and Houston. Because these climate-controlled venues require cool-season grass, Colorado’s turf was chosen to provide the playing surface for some of the tournament’s biggest matches.
The World Cup isn’t coming to Colorado, but Colorado is going to the World Cup.
I’m excited to announce a new effort with the Colorado Chamber of Commerce (tag) to speed up permitting that will reduce emissions from manufacturing, energy production, and other industrial sectors. By streamlining permitting and cutting red tape, we can use innovation to reduce emissions. For the first time ever in Colorado, a majority of our energy comes from low-cost clean energy, and this working group will build on that success to unlock new opportunities to save Coloradans money, create good-paying jobs, and protect our air quality.
Prop 123 funds are supporting housing across the state, including this site in Colorado Springs, which will support more than 120 homes for Coloradans.
Colorado is bringing more housing to market faster and at lower cost over the next few months and years. I've signed laws to reduce housing costs, increase our housing supply, and save homeowners money on their insurance. There is always more work to do, but as these laws take effect, we will see Coloradans of every budget find more housing in the communities where they work and raise their families.
Colorado is investing in more affordable housing. Four new Proposition 123 Equity Fund recipients will help expand low- and middle-income rental housing in Aspen, Colorado Springs, Denver, and Ouray while supporting smart growth, sustainability, and stronger communities.
This week I signed my final bill into law as Governor, HB26-1033 - Expanding the Colorado Cottage Foods Act which makes Colorado a food freedom state, allowing entrepreneurs who make delicious homemade foods Coloradans love like Tamales, Burritos, and Tortas to be sold to Coloradans. It was a special celebration on a special bill to finish signing or vetoing all the bills that past the 75th general assembly, which recessed on May 14th..
During this legislative session I signed a total of 436 bills, and over the last eight years, I’ve signed more than 3,700 bills on the issues that matter most to Coloradans. From creating free, full-day kindergarten and preschool, to passing nation-leading clean energy laws, taking action to reduce housing costs, improve access to healthcare Coloradans can afford, protecting personal freedoms, cutting taxes, and lowering costs for all - I’m proud of the work we’ve done since I took office.
And we’re not done yet. I’m committed to running through the tape for Coloradans to continue fighting for the issues people care about most.
ICYMI: I declared a drought emergency this week to ensure that Colorado can better coordinate among agencies, prepare for worsening conditions, and support Colorado communities, agriculture, water users, and our environment.

I was proud to proclaim today, June 6, as Prairie Day to celebrate Colorado’s incredible high plains and the people who help steward these iconic lands. When many think of Colorado, they think of our mountains in western Colorado, but our high prairie lands are just as essential to our identity as a state.
Our prairies help drive our thriving agriculture industry, and are home to a variety of livestock and wildlife, including birds, mammals, insects, and critically important pollinators and micro-organisms.
These lands power our state, and today and every day we are proud to celebrate them!
This week I announced, alongside the Colorado Department of Agriculture’s State Veterinarian’s Office, that Colorado is activating our New World Screwworm (NWS) response plan following the confirmed detection of NWS in Zavala County, Texas.
The health and safety of our cattle, food supply, and agriculture community is vital and we urge care and vigilance for our producers around the state. Colorado is taking action to ensure readiness for the potential arrival of New World Screwworm in our state and are committed to giving the best guidance and information available to protect producers and their cattle. I have been briefed and am monitoring the situation very closely and evaluating any next steps needed.
Coloradans can learn more about our state’s response at https://t.co/xYTMKlIhZv.
This week we celebrated 50 years of the Colorado Commission of Indian Affairs! Five decades of partnership and progress between Tribal Nations and the State of Colorado. The commission has served as a bridge, helping to strengthen government-to-government relationships, elevate Tribal voices, and ensure that American Indian/Alaska Native perspectives are reflected in state policies and initiatives. I’m grateful for these government-to-government partnerships and the leadership of Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera for her work to strengthen our strong connections.
I am taking Executive Action to create the Competency Task Force, which will improve public safety and improve Colorado’s competency system by analyzing challenges and opportunities to improve services for lower-level non-violent offenders and ensure those with mental health disorders are provided proper care and treatment.
I was also proud to sign SB26-149 last week - Pathways for Individuals with Mental Health Disorder, which updates our competency laws to ensure that those who pose a serious risk to themselves or others are provided support, not released into the community. The new Task Force will determine how we can improve access to care for low-level non-violent offenders. Streamlining this system will improve public safety.
I was proud to sign a new law to honor the legacy of Magnus White, who was tragically killed while riding his bike near Boulder. Known as Magnus’s Law, this bipartisan bill requires law enforcement officers to offer a voluntary alcohol breathalyzer test to drivers who are involved in severe crashes, making Colorado roads safer for everyone and holding drivers accountable.
I signed two new laws to help strengthen education for every Colorado student.
The Harlem Children’s Zone is helping students and communities break through poverty and fulfill potential. SB26-080 Cradle to Career Grant Program Creation opens similar opportunities here in Colorado, helping ensure students have the support and resources to thrive inside and outside of the classroom.
SB26-170 Task Force to Expand Effective Public Schools focuses on increasing student achievement by looking at successful efforts across district schools, innovation schools, and charter schools and expanding access to opportunity for all students.
Food Freedom! Today I was proud to sign HB26-1033 - Expanding the Colorado Cottage Foods Act, which supports home chefs across Colorado and helps bring them out of the shadows so they can feed more Coloradans their delicious foods!
This signing is truly a celebration of Colorado cuisine, our strong community connections, and the commitment of these business owners. Thank you to the amazing chefs who joined us today, as well as Mariachi Internacional for the incredible performance.
Colorado is a national leader on breaking down barriers to ibogaine access and research, and our new law provides an opportunity to explore the possibilities ibogaine presents. Colorado is positioned to do important clinical research in partnership with federal agencies through a number of pilot sites to be authorized by the Behavioral Health Administration.
