Oct. 17 is the International Day to Eradicate Poverty. The Green Party recognizes that all people have a right to food, housing, medical care, jobs that pay a living wage, education, and support in times of hardship. The US should slash its military budget by at least 50% and redirect the funds to meeting human needs at home and abroad.
Poverty is an affront to human dignity & a denial of human rights.
We must eradicate poverty & confront the inequalities & injustices that perpetuate it.
The resources & knowledge exist. Let’s mobilize the political will & investments needed to ensure everyone can build a life free from poverty.

“We (should) have retired judges and possibly college professors and a few other people on a on a committee that does everything from redistricting to eliminate gerrymandering to just running the operations of elections,” Karas said. https://t.co/zRDLVRUQL6
“We see a lot of campaigns recruiting students to be at the entry levels of their campaign teams but not really ever having an assertive amount of power and engagement,” Papari said. “I wanted to flip the script on that in my campaign.”

s a result of our unwavering advocacy I now find myself fighting false criminal charges of assaulting a police officer and trespassing. Of 100 protestors arrested, I alone am now facing trial and up to 18 months in prison if convicted. My next court appearance is Oct. 29. https://t.co/9unUN6S71z
"What I’m proudest of is the culture we built, where people felt safe, supported, and encouraged to do their best work. I think that’s what leadership really is: competence with people and care for them, and it’s what’s missing in politics today." https://t.co/v2nK57MQCF
The Green Party applauds the millions of Americans who will take to the streets on Oct. 17 to support the right to vote. Both parties unfortunately use various forms of voter and candidate suppression to benefit themselves, rather than being champions of true democracy. https://t.co/T0hWDVM2eQ
I have strong feelings about tariffs and trade wars as we are neighbors to the north here in Michigan, and it is really impacting that affordability, right, and that access of life.

The Nobel Peace Prize to Navi Pillay is a much needed boost for the rule of law and human rights, especially at a time when Trump and Putin are attacking the International Criminal Court. In 2022, on behalf of the UN, she found that Israel had violated the 1948 Genocide Convention and called on both Israel and Hamas to fully comply with international humanitarian and human rights law, resulting in attacks by both the Dems and the GOP.
My latest article, published in The Nation, looks at the significance of Navi Pillay winning the Nobel Peace Prize and the bipartisan opposition in Washington to her work.

Matthew Arnst supports ending U.S. military aid for the war in Gaza, a permanent ceasefire, and the right of Palestinians to determine their own future. Opposing the actions of the Israeli government does not mean opposing Jewish people, just as criticizing our own government does not mean opposing Americans. This is about human rights, not religion or nationality. https://t.co/iOpewTkZwY
“Those unions didn’t bet on a party label,” Kiakona said. “They bet on a record. They looked past the letter next to my name and asked a simpler question: who has actually been on the ground with our members, and who will be there when it counts?” https://t.co/w59vgxBGrz
