Once again, it is time to switch antiphons!
The seasonal Marian Antiphon of Regina CΕli gets replaced by the Salve Regina the Monday following Pentecost. Below is the solemn tone (though the Dominican tone is growing on me).
Around the year 1500, medieval painter Hieronymus Bosch painted a person with sheet music written on their butt being tortured in hell.
500 years later, someone decided to transcribe and play the song. Now, you can hear it too.
I am risen, and I am always with you, alleluia; you have placed your hand upon me, alleluia; your wisdom has been shown to be most wonderful, alleluia, alleluia.
O Lord, you have searched me and known me; you know when I sit down and when I rise up.
Thy cross, O Lord, we adore; thy holy resurrection we laud and magnify: for behold it is by the wood of the cross that joy has come in all the world. May God have mercy on us and bless us: may he cause the light of his countenance to shine upon us, and have mercy on us.
But it behoves us to glory in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ: in whom is our salvation, life, and resurrection; by whom we are saved and delivered.
May God have mercy on us, and bless us; may he cause the light of his countenance to shine upon us, and may he have mercy on us.
#SpyWednesday
In the name of the Lord let every knee bow of those that are in heaven, on earth, and under the earth; for the Lord became obedient unto death, even to the death of the cross; therefore the Lord Jesus Christ is in the glory of God the Father.
