#OTD in 1897, the Hill's Capitol Fire occurred. With snow-covered ground and the local fire department dependent on a horse drawn trucks, the Capitol was unsalvageable. The Legislature was in session at the time, evacuated the building and met at Grace Methodist Episcopal Church.
