My latest for @SIPRIorg takes stock of the WPS agenda following UNSCR 1325's twenty-fifth anniversary. The perspective is one I feel is sorely under-represented in WPS policy work: What of men, boys, and masculinities? (1/7) https://t.co/frSjaELaIB

This policy brief was written as part of a DCAF programme to mark the 25th anniversary of the adoption of #UNSCR1325.
As the 26th anniversary of the adoption of @UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security approaches on 31 October, progress towards increasing women’s representation in multilateral peace operations remains uneven.
This new overview by @claudiapfeiferc and Lucas Wiktorsson examines women’s representation in UN peace operations, European Union Common Security and Defence Policy #CSDP missions and operations, and @OSCE ield operations.

idk Nic why don’t you ask your colleagues at the NYT who spent years spreading lies about “Hamas command and control centers” under hospitals, laundering fake Israeli “intelligence”, institutionally removing Israeli responsibility from headlines, baselessly smearing UNRWA, etc
Last week, SIPRI's @gretchenbaldwin delivered a keynote speech at the residence of the Moroccan Ambassador to Sweden (@KMedrek) on 'Returning to the roots: Twenty-five more years of the Women, Peace and Security agenda'. The talk covered key geopolitical trends impacting the WPS agenda's implementation, key opportunities for the next 25 years and recommendations for political stakeholders.

Every time the West calls an African country "unstable" they mean the resources stopped flowing.
I made a glossary of 100 diplomatic words they use and what they actually mean.

“Military-aged male” is not a legal category. The categories are “civilian” & “combatant”.
In case of doubt, a person is presumed civilian. Age & gender are not close to sufficient to dispel such doubt. Speculative beliefs about threats are also insufficient.

Finally, I feel strongly that including men and boys in WPS work--particularly their vulnerabilities--expands the spectrum of how gender is holistically understood in peace and security and improves the potential for inclusion of LGBTQ+ people in that same work. (6/7)
This paper by @gretchenbaldwin explores how men and boys can be considered in the WPS agenda’s implementation beyond simply ‘adding men and stirring’.

Read my sister Tamam's latest for @The_NewArab: Europe preaches feminism while funding Israeli occupation. @TamamBeitJirja 👏🏾✊🏾🇵🇸 It's long overdue that the EU cuts ties and impose sanctions on the genocidal settler-colonial and apartheid regime of Israel! https://t.co/ijoRqgppjV
