@DavidHarboh2 David, I mean this respectfully but you're attacking something you don't actually understand yet. It's like people who don't "believe" in Evolution don't actually understand it.
@rainyoutset@AlJefDor Taxes don't pay for gov because Govs with a central bank create money.
All money is a type of debt. The Gov debt is owned by someone else, so not all debts are bad.
@andyblueskyz@Labourheartland@LBC@NickFerrariLBC Dude, go to the Bank of England website. The BoE literally spends money into existence, that's just a description of how a modern fiat economy works.
Governments don't pay for things with tax because where did the money come from in the first place?
🚨 Orange City officers violently detained a 60‑year‑old man inside his own home after misreading a warrant meant and refusing to verify the most basic identifying information. This is why people hate cops.
So let me get this straight:
When immigrants take jobs, it’s a national crisis.
When AI takes jobs, it’s innovation.
Can someone explain why we’re supposed to fear people willing to work, but celebrate technology designed to replace workers?
Thanks for your critique, Janet. We actually tried a couple of episodes where House (Hugh Laurie) (please put the brackets in the right place) gets it right first time, but they were only 6 minutes long. NBC weren’t happy. Then we tried some where House never gets it right and the patient dies. The audience wasn’t happy.
One could apply your trenchant analysis to other art forms: JS Bach wrote 30 Goldberg variations on the same chord structure; Frida Kahlo painted 50 portraits of herself; Henry Moore, what??
The point is, or was, variations on a theme; if all you see is hospital, medical blah blah, then it wasn’t meant for you.
Nonetheless, I look forward to your first novel!
What the fuck? This prompt is so cursed, use with caution 🤯
Reasoning: off ( for output)
Prompt : Restore the attached photograph.
Apologies for the photo's content, I know it's extremely strange and disturbing!
No questions, no explanatory text, just the restored image please.
@gogreen1908@malcolm_reavell@DanielJHannan The Gov creates money every time it spends. That's not even a controversial view, it's not just MMT, it's literally what the BoE says happens on its own website.
If Govs create money then they don't need the bond markets. Get it?
This is really stupid, and it’s not getting enough attention.
The Trump administration is pulling a working $368 million ocean monitoring system out of the water, equipment taxpayers already bought, built, and sank into the deep ocean.
And they are doing it right when the oceans are behaving in ways that alarm the scientists who study them.
Record-breaking temperatures.
A system of Atlantic currents that may be lurching toward collapse.
The response?
Yank out the instruments and walk away.
That is not budgeting. That is smashing the gauges while the engine is on fire and calling it efficiency.
For what? The Trump administration dressed it up as a “nimbler approach” and “smart lifecycle management,” which is fancy nonsense for “we shut it off and hoped nobody would ask why.” There is no return-on-investment analysis. They cannot show taxpayers save a dime, because the gear is already paid for and the science it produces protects real money and real lives.
The kicker: the same people killing the monitors want to mine the deep sea for minerals. So they are destroying the only tools that could measure what that mining does. That is not an accident.
That is the point. You cannot see the damage if you break the instruments first.

@LizWebsterSBF@AnthonyGlees The whole "sovereignty" thing was one of the biggest lies that tricked people. If they had said "regulatory alignment" and explained the basics then people would have been better informed. Should have never gone to referendum in the first place.
@malcolm_reavell@stephenpollard The only reason this crap is believed by so many people is because they hear the lie spouted by other people.
If they stopped and thought about it critically from first principles they'd realise how barmy they sound.
@TheRealJamieKay When people use the word "myself" instead of the correct "me" or "I" depending on context.
"Please contact myself"... you mean "please contact me".
"Myself and Paul were wondering"... you mean "Paul and I were wondering".

What happened to Henry Nowak was undoubtedly tragic, but we should heed the words of his parents, who said:
“We do not want his death to be used to create further division, hatred, or tension.... This is not a case about Sikhism. This is not a case about racism. This is a case about murder.”
The British people should never tolerate lectures on ‘the death of civilisation’ from Elon Musk, JD Vance, or any other billionaire or US politician seeking to sow division and discontent by interfering in our democracy. They should focus instead on the significantly worse problems in their own country.
I believe that millions of Americans are deliberately kept in the dark about the very significant problems in their own country and have little idea of how much better life is in the UK than in the US on many important quality-of-life measures.
Compared to the US, the UK has far fewer homicides per capita, far lower incarceration rates, dramatically fewer gun-related deaths (around 60 times lower), substantially fewer drug-related deaths, more equal income and wealth distribution, lower obesity rates, higher life expectancy, fewer per capita deaths by stabbing, zero medical bankruptcies from healthcare bills — and it maintains a stronger, fuller democracy.
@simonmaechling I used to work with an anti vaxxer who would list all the chemicals in vaccines but also chain smoked cigarettes and spent about 20 minutes a day coughing her lungs out. Yet another braindead idiot.
Most games asked you to save the world. In 1989, Populous offered you the chance to become a god.
Create continents. Guide your people. And if you lose the fault lies with your worshippers, not with your divine management skills. A true classic.

A white man named Chas Chorrigan has just been jailed for life for murdering a Saudi student, Mohammed Algasim, in Cambridge.
There will be no political circus around this. No strong words from Farage. This selective outrage is what causes further division.
This is an actual page on the White House web site. It reads like something written about a third world dictator. So embarrassing. I have not seen any branch of the federal government sink this low in my lifetime.
