@screenrant "It's not Luke's story anymore." No shit. But if this is true, then why was so much of Episode VIII structured around Luke and a *new* character arc written for him?
@The_Hellenist Yeah, that is absolutely not what John means in the passage you've cited. He's urging his readers to turn away from worldly things and temptations of the eyes and flesh. He's not demanding that his readers "destroy the world.". Here's the next verse:
@AgainstAtheismX Under divine command theory, there is nothing intrinsically wrong with murder, rape, or theft. If the divine forbids you to do it, these things are wrong. If the divine commands you to do it, these things are good.
@peakhobby@MatrixMysteries Because they're wholesale fictions. Big insurers only pay 10% of what the provider charges, so the provider inflates the pre-discounted bill by insane proportions to get more money from the insurer. Why tolerate 90% discounts? The big insurers can pay big claims.
@TheCinesthetic The Phantom Menace. Despite its flaws, it was still indisputably a Star Wars movie. It was George's galaxy far, far away. The sequels, by contrast, have either been derivative (VII) or just plain dumb (VIII and IX).
@sw_holocron@SPACEdotcom Not only is the Last Jedi a D, the movie backed Rise of Skywalker into a corner where it would have been hard to be better than a C (Rise of Skywalker is an F). The Last Jedi is just a wretchedly stupid movie.
@SandyofCthulhu Yeah, Rey was certainly not the big problem with the Star Wars sequels. No pre-planned story arc, worse writing than Lucas in parts, and a willingness to contradict the earlier films (including VII) really made the sequels (VIII and IX in particular) suck.
@HMBohemond And at the end of The Last Jedi, the entire Resistance fits aboard the Millennium Falcon, with room for porgs, too. Ryan Johnson didn't understand the concept of a larger movement that you're only seeing a snapshot of at any given moment.
@BarronTNews_ That's... that's not how percentages work. Percentages are always relative to a *starting number.* Go from 4 to 5 - 25% increase. 5 to 4? 20% decrease. Lutnick knows this, but has to humor his idiot boss and so makes up this horseshit to try to make sense of the stupidity.
@visegrad24 Fuck him. Occupy Kaliningrad Oblast, then hold a hastily prepared vote on whether or not the residents want to be free and autonomous from Russia, and then, voila - no longer Russian territory. Do the same shit that he does, and fuck his empty threats.
@dalepartridge@PeteHegseth Which (or whose) Christianity? In my church, it's a sin to commit murder, so Pete's policy of killing people on putative drug boats before arrest or investigation is distinctly un-Christian. Never mind the absurdity of a Christian ceremony held by the War Department...
