On National Indigenous Languages Day, the Department of Canadian Heritage is releasing the Indigenous Languages Act in Plains Cree, Western Ojibway and Innu-Aimun.

In commemoration of the Day, the AFN celebrates the rich and diverse heritage of First Nations languages and stands firm with First Nations people who protect and support our languages and traditions. Languages are central to connecting First Nations identity and culture, and they convey traditions across generations.

Canada must fulfill its legislated commitments ensuring that First Nations have adequate and long-term funding for language revitalization so all First Nations languages can thrive for generations to come. #NILD #IDIL
