Happy Africa Day
In 2012, I decided to embark on a one-way journey. A mission driven by passion, truth, and a profound love for the continent that gave me life. I decided to show the United States and the world the other side of Africa the version many had never known. The Africa of human richness, intelligence, culture, beauty, hope, strength, and the greatness of its people.
That is how we created GET TO KNOW AFRICA in the United States.
I decided to give Africans a voice because, for a very long time, others spoke for us and told our story without truly knowing the soul of our continent. And I believed and still believe that when Africans speak for themselves, the world finally understands how extraordinary the cradle of humanity truly is.
Today, 14 years later, I look back and realize that it has all been worth it, even knowing that there is still so much work ahead. Even in the face of challenges, barriers, and misunderstandings, the flame continues to burn within me.
My passion for Africa runs through my blood. It is in my voice, in my work, in my footsteps, and in my dreams. And until my very last breath, I will never stop telling the world that Africa is far more than what many see in the headlines. Africa is beauty. Africa is dignity. Africa is human richness. Africa is an extraordinary continent. Africa is the future… for those who are willing to look at it through the right lens.
