High Commissioner Suneet Mehta formally handed over 12 agricultural drones, gifted by the Government of India to the Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC), to Hon. Tomasi Tunabuna, Minister for Agriculture, Waterways & Sugar Industry, in Lautoka.

The handover fulfils a commitment announced during the visit of Hon. Prime Minister @slrabuka to India in August 2025, and reflects the longstanding and multifaceted India–Fiji partnership in agriculture and the sugar sector. From seeds and mobile soil-testing laboratories to specialised training for Fijian sugarcane farmers at the National Sugar Institute in Kanpur under ITEC, India’s support combines technology, knowledge and capacity-building.

The 12 drones will support more efficient, technology-enabled and sustainable sugarcane production in Fiji. India remains committed to working alongside Fiji to advance agricultural innovation, productivity and resilience, while strengthening our enduring partnership for the benefit of Fijian farmers and communities.

Pleased to chair the India-FIPIC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting today in New York #UNGA81. Underlined the following:

✅ Our approach to the Pacific has consistently been demand-driven, development-oriented and people-centric.

✅ India fully respects and supports the priorities articulated in the Pacific Island Forum’s 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent.

✅ India’s development projects in Pacific Island countries reflect our shared focus on strengthening livelihoods, building capacity & promoting sustainable development.

✅ Significant progress has been achieved with regard to the Action Plan announced by PM @narendramodi spanning healthcare, renewables, connectivity, technology and capacity building.

🇮🇳🤝🇫🇯 भारतीय उच्चायोग, सुवा एवं स्वामी विवेकानंद सांस्कृतिक केंद्र ने ‘स्वस्थ भविष्य के लिए आयुर्वेद’ विषय पर 11वाँ आयुर्वेद दिवस मनाया। फिजी के स्वास्थ्य एवं चिकित्सा सेवा मंत्री माननीय डॉ. रातु अतोनियो लालाबालावु मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में उपस्थित हुए। उन्होंने आयोजन के लिए भारतीय उच्चायोग को बधाई दी और आयुर्वेद दिवस आयोजन के बारे में विचार व्यक्त किए।

अपने स्वागत संबोधन में उच्चायुक्त श्री सुनीत मेहता ने आयुर्वेद दिवस के महत्त्व, भारत की पारंपरिक चिकित्सा पद्धति तथा भारत–फिजी संबंधों में हाल के घटनाक्रमों पर प्रकाश डाला। आईआईएमटी आयुर्वेदिक मेडिकल कॉलेज एवं अस्पताल के सहायक प्रोफेसर एवं परामर्शदाता चिकित्सक डॉ. शॉन कुमार ने आयुर्वेद एवं फिजी में आयुर्वेद की प्रासंगिकता पर विचार साझा किए। डॉ. पूनम सिंह ने ‘आयुर्वेद और पोषण: स्वस्थ जीवन की आधारशिला’ विषय पर संबोधित किया।

🇮🇳🤝🇫🇯 @HCI_Suva and @iccr_suva celebrated the 11th Ayurveda Day under the theme “Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow.” Hon. Dr. Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu, Fiji’s Minister for @MOHFiji attended as Chief Guest. He congratulated the High Commission on organising the event and shared his views on the Ayurveda Day celebration.

In his welcome address, High Commissioner Mr. Suneet Mehta highlighted the significance of Ayurveda Day, India’s traditional system of medicine, and recent developments in India–Fiji relations. Dr. Shawn Kumar, Assistant Professor and Consultant Doctor at IIMT Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital, spoke about Ayurveda and its relevance in Fiji. Dr. Poonam Singh addressed the gathering on “Ayurveda and Nutrition: The Foundation of a Healthy Life.”

🇮🇳हिंदी पखवाड़ा 2026 | लौटोका 🇫🇯
भारतीय उच्चायोग, सुवा एवं स्वामी विवेकानंद सांस्कृतिक केंद्र के सहयोग से यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ फिजी के भाषा, साहित्य एवं संचार विभाग ने हिंदी दिवस समारोह एवं प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया।
कार्यक्रम में विद्यार्थियों ने भरतनाट्यम, गीत, कविता-पाठ और फिजी के पारंपरिक मेके नृत्य की प्रस्तुतियाँ दीं। हिंदी दिवस प्रतियोगिता के विजेताओं को पुरस्कार भी प्रदान किए गए। समारोह ने भारत और फिजी के साझा भाषायी एवं सांस्कृतिक संबंधों को रेखांकित किया।

With the support of @HCI_Suva and @iccr_suva ,and @UniFiji1's Department of Language, Literature and Communication organised a Hindi Day celebration and competition.
Students presented Bharatanatyam, songs, poetry recitations and traditional Fijian Meke performances. Prizes were awarded to the winners of the Hindi Day competition. The celebration highlighted the shared linguistic and cultural ties between India and Fiji.

🇮🇳 हिंदी पखवाड़ा 2026 | नांदी 🇫🇯

भारतीय उच्चायोग, सुवा एवं स्वामी विवेकानंद सांस्कृतिक केंद्र द्वारा रामकृष्ण मिशन, नांदी में संचालित हिंदी भाषा शिक्षण केंद्र ने हिंदी पखवाड़ा 2026 के अंतर्गत विद्यार्थियों के लिए विविध हिंदी एवं सांस्कृतिक गतिविधियों का आयोजन किया।

विद्यार्थियों ने हिंदी कविता-पाठ, समूह नृत्य, हिंदी गीत-गायन और भाषण प्रस्तुतियों के माध्यम से अपनी भाषायी एवं रचनात्मक प्रतिभा का प्रदर्शन किया। अंताक्षरी प्रतियोगिता कार्यक्रम का विशेष आकर्षण रही, जिसमें विद्यार्थियों और अभिभावकों ने उत्साहपूर्वक भाग लिया।

इस आयोजन ने विद्यार्थियों को आनंदपूर्ण वातावरण में हिंदी सीखने, अपनी प्रतिभा प्रदर्शित करने तथा भाषा और संस्कृति से जुड़ने का प्रेरक अवसर प्रदान किया।

The Hindi Language Learning Centre, run by @HCI_Suva and @iccr_suva at Ramakrishna Mission, Nadi, organised a series of Hindi and cultural activities for students as part of Hindi Pakhwada 2026.

Students showcased their linguistic and creative talents through Hindi poetry recitation, group dance, Hindi songs and speeches. A lively Antakshari competition was a special highlight, drawing enthusiastic participation from students and parents alike.

The programme provided students with an engaging platform to learn Hindi, express their creativity and strengthen their connection with language and culture.

📚 स्वच्छता ही सेवा 2026 🌿

स्वच्छता ही सेवा 2026 के अंतर्गत भारतीय उच्चायोग, सुवा एवं स्वामी विवेकानंद सांस्कृतिक केंद्र ने रेवा सकेंडरी स्कूल को पुस्तकें भेंट कीं तथा “स्वच्छता की पाठशाला” विषय पर एक रोचक एवं ज्ञानवर्धक प्रस्तुति दी।

इस पहल के माध्यम से विद्यार्थियों को स्वच्छता, व्यक्तिगत स्वास्थ्य, जिम्मेदार अपशिष्ट प्रबंधन तथा पर्यावरण के प्रति जागरूक जीवनशैली अपनाने के लिए प्रेरित किया गया। भेंट की गई पुस्तकें विद्यार्थियों में अध्ययन, ज्ञान और सीखने की संस्कृति को बढ़ावा देंगी।

आइए, युवा पीढ़ी को जागरूक बनाकर स्वच्छ, स्वस्थ एवं जिम्मेदार समाज के निर्माण में अपना योगदान दें।
📚 Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 🌿

As part of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026, @HCI_Suva and @iccr_suva gifted books to Rewa Secondary School and conducted an engaging presentation on “Swachhata Ki Pathshala.”

The initiative encouraged students to adopt cleanliness, personal hygiene, responsible waste management and environmentally conscious habits in their daily lives. The gifted books will further promote reading, knowledge and learning among the students.

Together, let us nurture young minds and build a cleaner, healthier and more responsible society.
