718 young athletes. 15 states. One belief - that sport can change lives.

At the 8th Edition of Sports for Change National Finals 2026, held at Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida, 718 young athletes from 15 states came together to celebrate talent, resilience and the transformative power of sport.

The National Finals were declared open by Mr. Om Prakash Karhana, Member, Athletes' Commission, Indian Olympic Association, in the presence of Mr. Ravi Shankar Nim, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Gautam Buddha Nagar; Prof. Chander Kumar Singh, Registrar, Gautam Buddha University and Dr. Nidhi Pundhir.

Congratulations to Uttar Pradesh team, the Overall Champions, and to every athlete who showcased determination, discipline and true sportsmanship.

25 athletes were awarded scholarships under the Power of One initiative by HCLFoundation, in recognition of their dedication and inspiring journeys. 8 athletes were also felicitated as Achievers for their exemplary performances over the past year. The event was further strengthened by the enthusiastic participation of 60 HCLTech volunteers and their families, reflecting the collective spirit behind Sports for Change.

As we conclude another inspiring edition of Sports for Change, we celebrate not just the champions of today, but the possibilities that sport continues to create for tomorrow.

Sport creates opportunities, builds resilience, and empowers young people to realise their potential.

The Sports for Change Ladakh Qualifiers 2026 concluded successfully at Spituk Stadium, Leh, bringing together 336 young athletes from seven districts to compete in Football and Archery. Organised in partnership with Bal Raksha Bharat and the Department of Youth Services & Sports, Administration of Ladakh, the qualifiers marked another important milestone in strengthening grassroots sports and advancing sport for development in the region.

The closing ceremony was graced by Dr. Nidhi Pundhir, SVP – Global CSR, HCLTech & Director, HCLFoundation, who felicitated the winners and participants, recognising their dedication, perseverance, and sporting spirit as they advance to the next stage of the Sports for Change journey.

We extend our appreciation to the Department of Youth Services & Sports, Administration of Ladakh, Bal Raksha Bharat, coaches, officials, volunteers, and all stakeholders whose collaboration made the successful conduct of the qualifiers possible.

Through Sports for Change, HCLFoundation remains committed to expanding access to quality sporting opportunities, fostering holistic development, and strengthening pathways for young people to thrive through sport.

The future of social impact will be shaped by young innovators who use technology with purpose.

With this vision, HCLFoundation, in collaboration with StartupTN and Anna University, Chennai, hosted the AI for Social Impact Challenge 2026, creating a platform for students, academia, startups, industry leaders and the social sector to explore how Artificial Intelligence can address pressing challenges across healthcare, education, livelihoods, social inclusion, environment and sustainability.

The initiative was inaugurated by Dr. G. S. Mahalakshmi, Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Anna University; Mr. C. N. Prem Kumar, Associate Vice President, StartupTN; Ms. Sridevi C, Associate Vice President, StartupTN; Mr. Muralidharan Balasubramanian, Senior Vice President, HCLTech; Mr. Dilip Kumar Devanathan, Senior Vice President, HCLTech; Prof. Dr. V. Kumaresan, Registrar i/c, Anna University; and Mr. M. Pugalenthi, National Head – HR, Saint-Gobain India Pvt. Ltd. The session concluded with closing remarks by Mr. Anoob Varghese, Manager, HCLFoundation.

A key highlight was the panel discussion, "AI for Social Good: Building Future-Ready Youth for Sustainable Change," featuring Lt. Gen. Karanbir Singh Brar, PVSM, AVSM (Retd.), Distinguished Strategic Advisor, IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation; Mr. Gaurav Majumdar, Thematic Lead - Skill Development & Livelihood, HCLFoundation; and Ms. Radhika Ramesh, COO, Villgro. The discussion underscored the importance of responsible AI, cross-sector collaboration and nurturing future-ready talent to solve real-world social challenges.

The challenge concluded with inspiring hackathon pitches, where 20 finalist teams, selected from over 1,000 applications across Tamil Nadu, presented innovative AI-powered solutions with the potential to create meaningful and lasting social impact.

Congratulations to the winning teams, and our sincere appreciation to every participant, mentor, evaluator and partner who contributed to making this initiative a success. Together, we are building an ecosystem where innovation is driven by purpose and powered by young changemakers.

HCLFoundation is pleased to announce the signing of a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Youth Services & Sports, Administration of Ladakh, under its Sports for Change initiative.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Shri Bhupendra Kumar, IAS, Secretary, Department of Youth Services & Sports, Administration of Ladakh, and Dr. Nidhi Pundhir, SVP - Global CSR, HCLTech & Director, HCLFoundation.

Through this partnership, year-round Sports for Change interventions will be introduced across nine government schools, enabling children to build confidence, leadership, teamwork, and other essential life skills through Football, Archery, and Athletics.

A roundtable discussion, chaired by Shri Bhupendra Kumar, IAS, and Dr. Nidhi Pundhir, brought together government representatives, sports associations, and school leaders to explore collaborative approaches for strengthening Ladakh's sports ecosystem.

During the visit, Dr. Pundhir also interacted with the Leh Nutrition Project (LNP), an HCLTech Grant-supported environment partner, and met Shri Chewang Norphel, the 'Ice Man of India', whose pioneering work on artificial glaciers continues to inspire sustainable and climate-resilient development.

Together, we are expanding access to opportunities, nurturing young potential, and strengthening communities through the transformative power of sport.
