2.5 years ago I discovered that I was excluded from our graduate union (@hgsuuaw) because as a student I was "learning" not "working." I filed a grievance that Harvard University denied. We took the case to arbitration. Today, we won. Unions work! #AcademicChatter

After fighting for two years we’ve finally gotten justice for some of our members from whom Harvard has been trying to deliberately withhold pay and benefits. See our press release here: https://t.co/PKwvTMlH3a

BUGWU is picketing on May 19th from 11am-3pm at Babcock Street and Agganis Arena!

[Harvard Grad Students Union-UAW Local 5118 @hgsuuaw]

HGSU is in solidarity with @gradworkersofBU @SEIU509! We have been closely following the struggles of our union siblings at @BU_Tweets fighting for a fair contract and justice in the workplace.

[SEIU Local 509 @SEIU509]

The rain nor BU admin will stop the labor movement! Huge shoutout to @GBLCBoston and our union siblings for standing in solidarity with #BUGWUOnStrike today! We’re stronger together. ✊

[Harvard Grad Students Union-UAW Local 5118 @hgsuuaw]

We were delighted to discuss the BUGWU strike and hear a report back from HGSU members on the picket line today, and we were proud to donate to the BUGWU strike fund.

One day longer, one day stronger!

Statement from SEIU 509 President David Foley: "When university administrations suppress protests, they undermine the foundation of our democracy and silence the voices of those fighting for a better future."

Take a look at the law firm behind Harvard's union-busting operation in the residential housing system. 👀

We stand with @HarvardResUnion as they prepare for their election starting Friday!

[Harvard Union of Residential Advisors @HarvardResUnion]

You know who represents HURA in the upcoming election? Proctors, tutors, and house aides.

You know who represents Harvard? Let us introduce you to Seyfarth Shaw

[Harvard Grad Students Union-UAW Local 5118 @hgsuuaw]

We stand with our siblings in HURA fighting for a brighter future, and we’re putting Harvard on notice (again). Email and call the following admins to let them know union busting is disgusting, and we will not tolerate this attempt to subvert a fair election process.

[Harvard Grad Students Union-UAW Local 5118 @hgsuuaw]

Our colleagues with @HarvardResAdvisors are voting for their union April 19, 23, and 24. Harvard is aggressively pushing an anti-union campaign full of lies and deceit to scare workers into voting no.

[Harvard Grad Students Union-UAW Local 5118 @hgsuuaw]

This time, they’re retaining counsel from Seyfarth Shaw, a firm well known for their aggressive anti-union campaigns. Workers are experiencing captive audience meetings, being sent FAQs full of misleading questions and answers, and receiving emails from upper admin almost daily.

7/7 The time for Harvard to act is now. Read the HGSU-endorsed letter here & support our call for an end to one of the most violent and deadly military campaigns of the twenty-first century: https://t.co/DN8oW6XdpE.

[Harvard Grad Students Union-UAW Local 5118 @hgsuuaw]

Last month, HGSU general membership endorsed a letter calling for Harvard to divest from holdings that materially implicate the University in the Israeli occupation of Palestine and the ongoing destruction of Gaza, & to publicly disclose the full extent of its investments🧵

[Harvard Grad Students Union-UAW Local 5118 @hgsuuaw]

6/7 Harvard has divested before & can/must divest again. We reiterate our membership’s call on Harvard to conduct an inquiry into & public disclosure of its investments in companies profiting from Israel’s destruction of Gaza & occupation of Palestine & immediately divest.
