It’s easy to forget how consequential the 2nd Continental Congress was—their sacrifice and all they risked to achieve independence. Explore this esteemed body in our latest video in our Story of America series, with @DrLarryArnn, President of @Hillsdale.

If there is only one book you read in the 250th year of our founding, I recommend “The Making of the American Mind…” by Matthew Spaulding. Regards , John

@HillsdaleInDC's Matthew Spalding testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on the Constitution, arguing that the Declaration of Independence is America’s first constitutional document and the enduring foundation of American self-government.
As the nation approaches its 250th anniversary, Spalding emphasized the importance of relearning the principles of equality, natural rights, and citizenship that define the American experiment.

Hillsdale’s honor code—or any honor code, properly understood—is about students achieving self-governance. All of them want to be here, and owe certain standards to each other.
While AI and social media have contributed to the increase in cheating, they are not the sole reasons for it. Students will always find an excuse to cheat. That's why honor matters. Read my latest for @FDRLST, where I write about @Hillsdale's honor code.

As one of the nation's most influential abolitionists, Frederick Douglass had spent years criticizing Abraham Lincoln when he believed the president wasn't moving quickly enough to end slavery. But when the two finally met at the White House, Douglass was struck by Lincoln's respect, courtesy, and willingness to listen.
Their first meeting became the beginning of a remarkable relationship between two men who, despite their differences, shared a commitment to preserving the Union and advancing the cause of freedom.
It's one of the most compelling encounters in American history—and a reminder that great leaders are often defined not only by what they say, but by how they treat others.
As we approach the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, there are few things more worthwhile than studying how it came to be. My friend and colleague Brad Birzer has written a new book on that subject, and he discusses it on the latest Radio Free Hillsdale Hour.
At many colleges, fewer students are studying history. Brad is one of the reasons they still come to @Hillsdale to study it. I hope you'll listen.

@TinPotPourri@hughhewitt@OKCPD It’s been pretty crowded at our booth the past few days. 🤷♂️ Come and join us. Do some patriotic dress up. Sign the Declaration of Independence.
@Hillsdale College has created an excellent and free video series called "The Story of America". It dives deep into both the famous and lesser-known heroes who were instrumental in building this nation. It also analyzes the history and significance of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.
With America’s 250th birthday approaching, there’s never been a better time to revisit how we got to where we are now.
Check it out here: https://t.co/Ley9fRWycn
