Now, the Howard alumna is the visionary costume designer behind Lionsgate’s record-breaking blockbuster, Michael—meaning the wardrobe of the highest-grossing biopic of all time has Howard University DNA stitched into every single seam.

From the signature crystallized glove to the legendary red leather "Thriller" jacket, Marci executed every look with absolute precision. She credits her unyielding work ethic to the foundation laid right here at HU, particularly the life-changing mentorship of the late Howard Fine Arts professor Reggie Ray. Marci’s journey proves once again that what is formed on The Yard changes the culture worldwide.

Congratulations to Bishop Robert P. Boxie, III on his historic ordination as the youngest bishop in the United States!

During his six years as Howard University’s Catholic chaplain, Bishop Boxie expanded student programming, mentored Bison through Alternative Spring Break, and championed the rich history of Black Catholicism. Now, he steps into the highest levels of leadership within the Archdiocese of Washington.

As he reflects on this monumental milestone, Bishop Boxie credits The Mecca for his journey: “I sent a message to our community at Howard: ‘You made your chaplain a bishop.’ And Holy Mother Church thanks you.”

The Howard University College of Engineering and Architecture has earned the 2026 Engineering Education Award from NCEES for its Kenya Water Supply Project, recognizing an innovative, student-led effort to improve access to clean water in rural Kenya.

Led by recent graduate Monica Maya and faculty advisor Dr. John Tharakan through the Engineers Without Borders Howard University Chapter, students designed and implemented a solar-powered water system that is already making a meaningful difference for the Kogwari community.

The award reflects Howard's commitment to experiential learning, where classroom knowledge is transformed into global impact.
