Let me re-introduce myself.
My name is Henri Pierre-Jacques and I am co-founder of @HarlemCapital, a fund backing the next generation of winners.
My mission is to build rooms that didn't exist before. Not more seats at someone else's table, entire rooms.
I was fortunate to have mentors who looked like me early in my career. That visibility changed what I believed was possible. Many never get that opportunity.
You can't be what you can't see so I share my story in case someone else needs to see it.
What room are you building?
Just realized that there have only been two Black tech founders who started a company and took it public. Alex Karp of Palantir (2020) and Robert Reffkin of Compass (2021). Others were brought in as CEO or started non tech companies like BET. These both being in the last 6 years and only 2 so how big the gap still is. I'm pumped though to change who wins.
Lmk if I missed anyone
Claude being down has become a recurring problem. The lead they built seem like they would run away with it ahead of the IPO, but GPT has regained ground. GPT dropped below 50% market share so unclear if they will catch up with users, but the product is certainly catching up
A message to fathers of faith, this one hit me yesterday on Fathers Day.
The best thing we can give our children is being a faithful witnesses and telling Gods story.
For many homes the woman is the spiritual leader. That was the case in my house and I donโt remember my dad praying with or for me. But we donโt need scripture, spirituality or certain prayers to be faith leaders.
Being imperfect doesnโt impact the love of our children. We are not called to be perfect, we are called to be righteous.
Many of us fathers think we donโt have the tools to be the faith leaders but we do.
Haiti lost but watching them for the first time was an incredible experience. Thereโs something different about World Cup pride with your people. Highly recommend attending a game if you can and your team is playing, itโs special
Ran into one of our interns from 8 years ago. We caught for for hours and itโs truly amazing to see the journey of people you got to manage. You go from a boss to peers to friends. This is the beauty of people management for me
