Police investigate home invasion
Halifax Regional Police is investigating a home invasion that occurred yesterday in Dartmouth.
On July 21, shortly after 7 p.m., officers responded to a report of a home invasion on Trenholme Street.
It was reported that a suspect forced his way into the home, assaulted and threatened the victim with a firearm before fleeing the scene in the victim’s vehicle.
The victim was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries by Emergency Health Services.
The victim’s stolen vehicle was recovered by the Halifax Regional Police; however, the suspect was not located at that time.
The investigation is in the early stages and is being led by the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division’s General Investigation Section with assistance from the Forensic Identification Section.

Police investigate fatal collision involving cyclist
Police are investigating a collision between a vehicle and a cyclist that occurred in Halifax last week.
On July 17 at approximately 1:15 p.m., Halifax Regional Police and Emergency Health Services responded to a collision in the 3600 block of Strawberry Hill Street. It was reported that the driver of a pickup truck opened the vehicle’s door into the path a cyclist travelling on Strawberry Hill Street.
The cyclist, a 71-year-old man, was treated on scene by Emergency Health Services, and was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. While in hospital, the man succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was issued a summary offence ticket.
Thoughts are with the cyclist’s family, loved ones and anyone that has been affected by this tragic incident.

Police arrested a man and woman for a series of thefts that occurred earlier this week.
On July 20 at approximately 4 p.m., a loss prevention officer with Sephora, located in the Halifax Shopping Centre, flagged down Halifax Regional Police officers to advise them they had detained a man and woman in the store for theft. It was determined that the same man and woman were suspects in two other theft files with one originating from the Sephora at Dartmouth Crossing earlier on July 20, and the other originating from the Sephora at Mic Mac Mall on July 19.
In total, more than $10,000 in product was stolen from multiple Sephora locations over the two-day period by the suspects.
Izabela Serban, 22, was charged with the following:
Theft under $5000 x3
Possession of Property obtained by Crime Under $5000 x3
Alex Cioriia, 23, was charged with the following:
Theft under $5000 x3
Possession of Stolen Goods under $5000 x3
Both are scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court for the charges at a later date.

Weekend update
Halifax Regional Police responded to 797 calls for service over the weekend. Some notable incidents are as follows:
Traffic stop leads to arrests
On July 18 at approximately 8:30 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop near the Angus MacDonald Bridge.
During the stop police observed a quantity of illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia and a sum money located in a vehicle. The vehicle’s three occupants were arrested without incident.
The driver was charged with:
-Operation of a conveyance while prohibited
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
One passenger was charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
- Theft under $5000 x2
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 x 2
The other passenger was charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
They will appear in court at a later date.

Police investigate collision involving scooter
Police are investigating a collision that occurred in Halifax last night.
At approximately 11 p.m., officers responded to a report of a collision involving a motor vehicle and a scooter at the intersection of Quinpool Road and Robie Street.
The driver of the scooter was taken to hospital with what are believed to be serious injuries.
Members of the Collision Reconstruction Unit as well as Forensic Identification Section attended the scene to assist with the investigation, which is ongoing.

Police investigate fatal collision
Police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred this morning in Halifax.
On July 20th, at approximately 5:50 a.m., Halifax Regional Police, Emergency Health Service and Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a car and a motorcycle on the Bedford Highway, near the intersection of Flamingo Drive.
The motorcyclist, a 66-year-old male, was pronounced deceased on scene by Emergency Health Services.
Traffic was blocked at the intersection of Flamingo Drive and Bedford Highway while Halifax Regional Police Collision Reconstruction Unit processed the scene. The road has reopened.
The investigation is ongoing.
Thoughts are with the loved ones of the deceased and everyone who was affected by this incident.
