@alansritchie@BenZaranko You're wrong. You have a generalist view of all markets that is proving to not be real for housing. There is no physical shortage of housing across the whole of the UK, the shortage is desirable housing, and people are less willing to share than they used to be.
@VeilOfAthena@chiky_handlr Wow, it's amazing how people can view the same video and see perspective so differently. I see a sitting President who continues to provide no evidence for serious accusations, and if this were Biden many would be criticizing too.
@Butch1212123@chiky_handlr Because US Politics have recently fucked the rest of the world and increased oil prices massively, thus increasing almost everything we need and consume.
It’s hard to fathom how crazy the system is after £100k. There is effectively a *60%* rate on £100-125k (because you lose tax allowance) as well as losing taxing free childcare, free child hours.
Should obviously be rectified.
Andy Burnham clearly doesn’t know what the fiscal rules are.
He made a big statement that he would stick to them but doesn’t seem to have acquainted himself with what he was committing to.
And he wants to be Prime Minister.
I've been driving around the Scottish Highlands for a few days and I've noticed a big difference in towns compared to where I live in Devon.
In Devon, whenever you drive into a town you have to pay to park. That's before you spend anything in shops, bars, cafes etc.
Councils consider car drivers as the enemy. A mere cash cow. If you park - YOU PAY.
Hence, many people now avoid town centres like the plague or they severely limit the number of times they visit.
For the past few days I've stopped off in many towns across the North of Scotland. I've parked in council car parks and not once have I been confronted with a ticket machine, a barrier or an ANPR camera.
And guess what? I've actually been into shops, cafes, restaurants etc and spent money. In so doing, I've helped the businesses to do what they do best - Providing goods and services to their communities.
Communities free from paying extortionate amounts of money to local councils for the "privilege" of being able to park up and visit businesses who rely on their custom.
Councils "down South" should take notice.
If you price drivers out of towns, they stay away, businesses close and the town dies.
The evidence is everywhere.
(And yes, I know Internet shopping is another enemy of the High Street so I don't need to be informed about that).
@alexmassie Guess this is sarcasm, at least I hope it is. There isn't a housing issue, aside from pricing, and the last 20 years have proven more housing doesn't decrease prices.
Burnham’s BS.
Victoria Derbyshire asks Burnham 5 times how he would pay to take utilities back into public ownership and 5 times he fails to tell her.
This guy hasn’t got a clue what he’d do as PM except speed us back to the 1970s even faster than Starmer is doing.

This is awful. The last ever Denby Pottery going to the kiln. Why is there not uproar? Where’s the government in this?? We all have Denby in our homes, in family heirlooms, as our history and now it’s closing through lack of support, such a sad sad day. #SaveDenby@denbypottery
@TomK_Brit1993 Follow Denmark's recent political change on income and vat taxes, as they are a country that realizes what is needed for it's citizens and global survival.
Just so we're clear on how absolutely stupid the British Government is.
When a petition is signed with over 2 million people saying No to Digital ID, it gets ignored.
When 9000 people answer an online, unadvertised survey, suddenly it's "overwhelming support".
Forcing children out of their homes to have toast in a noisy classroom with lots of other children is not a ‘softer start to the day’. Children should be at their own house having breakfast with their families. Parents need flexible hours to manage work and family life, NOT less time with their children! None of this is about children’s wellbeing or for the benefit of families.
@bphillipsonMP This is propaganda and misinformation. The true cost is on tax payers, and the family model which Labour broke starting with Blair, and now has killed. Kids not seeing parents for 12 hours per day, it's a disgrace.
