@clairecameron I loved that line too but the whole article kind of suggested to me that Donna Tartt should, in fact, be an option: why isn’t she? Her heft would provide such significance to an unknown author for both retail and readers, and she surely also relied on blurbs for her first books.
I’m so excited to be working with @liv_maidment at the @MMLitAgency - she’s been incredible at helping me develop my new novel, MOTHERCLOWN, and as I fall deeper under its pull her guidance is helping me keep my target in focus. This is the fun part.
I’ve set my new novel in my favourite city and named all the main characters’ friends after my friends and let me tell you, this is the most fun I’ve ever had writing.
@jendziura I sew clothes for myself (I don’t do alternations for other people) but this would definitely be an easy job, to reinsert the elastic and re-shirr the middle. Would take an hour or two! You should get it done 🧡🧵
I loved my teacher in grade six so much and she just got in touch with me to say she’s so happy to find out I’m an author and that I was her favourite student ever, of all time. If you, too, were a teacher’s pet, I highly recommend this feeling.
One month in the world! My goal as a writer is to be understood (if that sounds simple then try writing a book and having a person read it) and I’m grateful that this novel has found the people who see and feel what I hoped they would.
