From the Annals of History
The Bastions of Nakfa: Names Etched in Heroism and Sacrifice;
"During the critical period of the Strategic Withdrawal in late 1978, the Eritrean freedom fighters faced a massive enemy force heavily armed with modern Soviet weaponry and backed by foreign military advisors. From every direction, the onslaught intensified; the skies thundered with the relentless roar of fighter jets, while the ground shook under the steady advance of conventional armor....
...While several newly liberated towns fell back into enemy hands under the sheer weight of this asymmetrical firepower, Nakfa stood defiant - the lone urban sanctuary that refused to surrender to the darkness of occupation. Convinced of the absolute justice of their cause, the freedom fighters withdrew into the rugged, familiar mountain ranges surrounding Nakfa in late December 1978. There, they made a solemn, historic pledge: to defend this rocky citadel with their blood and their lives. For more than a decade, these forbidding heights became the stage for epic engagements that transformed Nakfa into the ultimate symbol of Eritrean resilience, determination, and sovereign pride".

Good Read - Date Palm Production in Eritrea: Current Status and Way Forward
Public Relations Office, Ministry of Agriculture
*"...Eritrea possesses an extensive coastline stretching from Ras Qeisar to Ras Dumera, providing highly suitable agro-ecological conditions for date palm cultivation. To utilize this valuable natural resource for the benefit of the people, the Ministry of Agriculture has launched a large-scale Date Palm Development Project along the coastal areas of both the Northern Red Sea and Southern Red Sea Regions. To date, approximately 50,000 date palm seedlings have been planted".
*"...The Ministry plans to significantly expand this Date Palm Cultivation Project along the Red Sea coastal areas. Under the Agriculture and Food Development Strategy, the objective is to increase the number of planted date palms to approximately one million trees by 2030–2031. Successful implementation of this program will substantially increase domestic date production and enable Eritrea to become a recognized producer of quality dates while generating considerable environmental and socio-economic benefits".

In characteristic fashion, the Potemkin Party's erratic political pendulum is yet again swinging between two extreme positions:
i) A provocative and aggressive posturing that has been accompanied, for over two years now, by incessant saber-rattling to "acquire sovereign access to the sea", on the one hand;
ii) Simultaneous portrayal of itself as the "aggrieved party" and a "hapless victim of internal and external conspiracies", on the other.
This was indeed the gist of the PM's rambling at the House of Peoples Representatives earlier today.
Hyperbole and associated drama aside, the stubborn facts remain the same.
The sad truth is: the unnecessary and avoidable tensions in the region have and continue to be stoked by the very reckless policies of the Potemkin Party. For brief illustrations:
1. The palpable friction with the Sudan squarely emanates from the Potemkin Party's dangerous involvement in the conflict in the Sudan by hosting, under the bidding of certain extraneous forces, a secret military camp and base for the RSF in the Benishangul-Gumuz region of Ethiopia. The evidence, which is overwhelming, is already in the public domain.
2. The Potemkin Party's stealthily signed MOU with Somaliland a couple of years ago was another illicit and reckless misstep that aroused consternation in the region as a whole. This act remains in flagrant violation of the AU and IGAD Constitutive Acts as well as fundamental tenets of international law on sovereignty and territorial integrity of States.
3. The Potemkin Party has pursued, for over two and half years now, a toxic and revisionist policy against Eritrea by openly threatening to invade/acquire by any means, its Assab port and coastal areas for what it terms as "sovereign access to the sea".
4. In the event, its frequent reference to "conspiratorial forces disappointed by, and bent on, scuttling the Pretoria Agreement" is as disingenuous as it is untenable. In as far as Eritrea is concerned, the Pretoria Agreement is a purely Ethiopian affair. Let us also recall - the beans have been spilled now by Getachew Redda's multiple confessions - that the Potemkin Party was scheming against Eritrea (Djibouti and Seychelles events) months before the negotiations and signature of the Pretoria Agreement.
In a nutshell, the quest for enduring regional peace and stability that the peoples of the Horn of Africa deeply cherish and deserve has been, and continues to be, jeopardized by the Potemkin Party's delusional policies.

Ethiopia's Potemkin Party: another despicable display of war psychosis and provocative saber-rattling at Hawassa on the weekend on the occasion of the "Inauguration of the Special Operations Command"!
The Potemkin Party continues to spew and ramp up, at almost every public occasion, toxic and provocative vitriol against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of its neighbour (s) in flagrant contravention of international law and established norms and parameters of regional peace and stability.
The pattern/war-recipe remains perilously the same:
*Barely cryptic declaration by the President of the Oromia Region two years ago that "Irrecha will be celebrated in the Red Sea (Assab), next year";
* Public display, at the Inauguration of Military Recruits few months ago, of an official Map of Ethiopia that unlawfully incorporates the port city of Assab and Eritrea's southern coastal territories;
* And these days, outrageous "announcement" on the weekend by the Chief of the Potemkin Party on the establishment of "an elite force" to police and ensure maritime security in the Red Sea from the tip of Somalia to Massawa (in Eritrea).
*The ill-advised MOU that the PP regime signed with Somaliland; the RSF training camp it has installed in southwestern Ethiopia reportedly under the bidding of the UAE; complete the picture of its irresponsible and reckless acts of fomenting conflict in the Horn of Africa region.
Poignant as it is, the Potemkin Party seems to believe that it has carte blanche to flout international law at its whimsical will in the current global climate of uncertainty and greater turbulence.
Indeed, it is indulging in these dangerous acts of aggression and regional destabilization while it continues to simultaneously seek - with a bowl in hand - financial bailouts from the IMF as well as other multilateral donors. Furthermore, over 21.4 million Ethiopians are seething under extreme poverty and continue to remain fully dependent on international humanitarian handouts for their survival.
The maritime security of the Red Sea is otherwise under the purview and prerogative of, and guaranteed by, the littoral States.
That the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Horn of Africa countries is inviolable is also too palpable to merit elaboration.

Good Read - The Gazelle’s Grace: #Eritrea’s Timeless Beauty; by Kidane Shimendi
If the Camel is emblematic of Eritrea's resilience; the Gazelle is symbolic of Eritrea's social cohesion, grace and beauty!
*"...Eritrea’s boundless beauty is forged by the ethos of 'Unity in Diversity', a principle that harmonizes the profound solidarity of nine distinct ethnic groups with the nation’s stunning natural landscapes. This fusion creates a timeless aesthetic where cultural heritage and the natural world are deeply intertwined. Among the many elements drawing local and international tourists to Eritrea’s rich cultural canvas, few are as captivating as the symbolic relationship between the gazelle and Eritrean traditions. This connection is most vividly expressed in the traditional choreography of the country’s nine ethnic groups".
*"...In conclusion, Eritrea’s boundless beauty is anchored in its 'Unity in Diversity', which bridges rich cultural expressions and the wonders of the natural world. Watching the nine ethnic groups express love, grace, and resilience through movements that mirror the agile gazelle reveals a profound, historical bond between the Eritrean people and their environment. This relationship goes far beyond dance; it is woven into the very fabric of national identity and shapes how the people see themselves. To experience the cultural rhythms of Eritrea is to travel through a timeless landscape where life, nature, and community are celebrated in their truest, most beautiful forms".

On the margins of the 62nd Session of the UNHRC, Eritrea's delegation has held a series of bilateral meetings with Permanent Representatives of several countries and also addressed the Africa Group.
The delegation further participated in the meeting of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations.
The critical issue is of course whether the penholders (essentially the EU under the prodding of some Member States) will again persist in their unwarranted campaign of harassment against Eritrea for the defunct geopolitical motives that we all know.
Equally important is whether other members of the Council will shed diplomatic inertia, and/or, discard narrow political horse-trading to reject the obsolete draft resolution without equivocation.
