.@JamesTalarico on Texas officially banning THC:
“This bill is insane.
Texans aren’t going to stop smoking weed and eating edibles because politicians in Austin say so. Texans will still use THC — but instead of getting it safely from a local small business, they’ll go back to getting it from the black market. From the drug cartels.
This ban is a gift to the cartels.
We are now telling full-grown adults how to live their lives. This is the nanny state at its worst; this is big government at its worst.
Instead of fully funding our schools, guaranteeing healthcare, or making childcare more affordable — this Legislature is focused on banning a product that gives people a little peace.
We’re making people’s lives harder, not easier.
I want to leave you with a quote: ‘It is time to end needless arrests and incarcerations of adults for small amounts of marijuana for personal use.’ That wasn’t a Democrat. That was President Donald Trump.
To my Republican colleagues, I’m asking you to oppose the cartels, stand with President Trump, and vote no on this insane bill.”
A lot of men are saying the Cornell woman has no proof.
Congrats, you've figured out the big problem with rape cases: Unlike most other crimes, there often simply isn't much proof beyond the woman's word.
If a person is mugged, no one's gonna argue they voluntarily gave up their wallet.
If a person gets assaulted, no one's gonna say they were into that.
But dudes text other guys "Free pussy" & "You can just whip your dick out"?
People are gonna argue she was into it even if she says she wasn't.
And I freely admit false rape accusations exist. I don't pretend they don't.
But how on earth is a woman supposed to prove rape if her word isn't enough & all too often, the crime scene of consensual sex looks the exact same as rape?
The answer is she usually doesn't.
Less than 4% of reported rapes, sexual assaults, & child sex abuse allegations in the US ever result in a sex crime conviction.
This % doesn't surprise me at all, cuz not a single woman I know who's been raped had her accuser go to jail :/
Serious question for game devs and players:
At what point does AI use actually become a dealbreaker for you?
Code assistance?
Placeholder art?
Voice?
Final game assets?
Marketing material?
Because “AI was used” has become such a broad accusation that it can mean almost anything now.
@DylanEveryday@elikasadeghi More light should be shed on it. How long until an AI video showing someone committing a crime and you can’t distinguish if it’s fake? We already are struggling to pass laws about videos involving children. It’s a slippery slope.
@mattnjas_RN4L@grantboone Imagine someone puts your face on ai. Or your kids. Doing lewd acts… would you still hold the idea that “it’s not real, it’s fine”?
Where do you draw the line of what AI depicts
It’s “protect women in sports” until it’s a woman who needs actual protection from her colleagues who laughed at an AI video of her getting slapped around. It’s almost like no one ACTUALLY cares about women in sports and that was all performative culture war grifting!
