The Misericordia Community is home to more than 600 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, located on the north side of Chicago.

McAuley and McGowan residents in the Inclusive Expressions classroom painted murals inspired by Keith Haring today! We learned about his life and legacy and chose to create a piece inspired by his collaboration with Chicago Public Schools in 1989.

Participants in ARISE have been learning about the history of fireworks and how they work. They then took a creative angle & wrote acrostic poems about fireworks & 4th of July holiday. Participants practiced composing acrostic poems, wrote their own individual acrostic poems!

The Greco orchard has already produced 3.2 lbs of zucchini! The residents harvested it and got it to the bakery for the zucchini bread! Quite the haul! Our gardens are #MisericordiaStrong!
The Gardens residents helped to put together our new flower press. The program then went out to our gardens and collected flowers to press. These pressed flowers will be used to make handmade cards for our staff. #MisericordiaStrong#MisericordiaCommunity
Last week our resident volunteer opportunity at West Ridge Nature Park took some time after their volunteer shift to do some fishing. Participants were able to enjoy the gorgeous weather and some catch and release fishing! #MisericordiaCommunity#MisericordiaStrong
The Misericordia Art Department is excited about our their next big project! They have been invited to take part in “Rosemont in Bloom: Where Art Takes Root.” The residents painted an 8ft rose sculpture that will be on display in Rosemont starting in the fall.

Our Engage Chicago participants absolutely loves getting a chance to see all the amazing works of art at the Hyde Park Art Center! A definite favorite, @HPAC_chicago various collections of art has brought joy and inspiration to us all time and time again!
Misericordia hosted it's 3rd Annual First Responders Day for our residents! They had a great time talking to and interacting w/ our amazing first responders from the @ChicagoPolice Dept, @CFDMedia Dept., Cook County Sheriff, SWAT & more! We are so grateful for keeping us safe!
