Meta’s new teen safety features miss the core issue raised by recent lawsuits.
It’s about product design: algorithms, infinite scroll, addictive features, and systems built to maximize engagement. Meta’s response is content controls.

This is going to backfire. Hard. No parent is going to trust that their kids can’t get through your age gating. They will just push their kids to every other LLM.
Why take the risk ?
Same for schools. Why take the risk ? A few seniors in HS are 18 and decide it would be fun to show the hard core erotica they created to the 14 yr olds.
What could go wrong ?

This isn’t a glitch. It’s intentional. @Meta 's products harm kids... by design.
Thank you @designitforus & @accountabletech for exposing these harms.
Accountable Tech asked five young people in our coalition to test Instagram Teen Accounts, which are meant to protect teens online.
Our participants found that these accounts don't always live up to Meta’s promises. https://t.co/oj163X1ToO
"When you dream at night, do you see our children’s faces?"
We took to the street because we refuse to let Big Tech hide behind profits while children are harmed every day on their platforms built.
