Democrats in Congress want U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle to address a report that she asked a Trump donor to pay off her $100,000 credit card bill.
According to messages reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, Guilfoyle offered conservative media personality Eric Deters access to top administration officials in exchange for the funds. This is said to have happened days before her Senate confirmation hearing last year.
In a statement provided to the PBS News Hour, Rep. Robert Garcia said it "would be a brazen abuse of power and a stunning addition to Guilfoyle's existing record of scandal and corruption."
Guilfoyle's lawyers deny The Journal's reporting.
@EricDLombardi@bthalmann Do you know if there is public funding for green space allotment by land owners for parks, art installations? A series of public gardens like Olmsted in NYC, Boston, Halifax, Highline would be an amazing legacy for @MarkJCarney.
Congratulations to Anne Carson on receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature. A poet, essayist, and translator, she has reimagined the classics with wit, imagination, and a style all her own. Canada is proud to celebrate this extraordinary achievement. https://t.co/NgX6aKhwvf
Great read: Quebec win was not about separation but better environment for business, lower taxes, increased policing, and stop valve on immigration. @PatrickBrethour
Alberta should absolutely not separate AND Canadians should actively reward and realize two things:
1. Alberta has not received any "equalisation" payments - money that so-called "have not", or less wealthy, provinces receive from the federal government - since 1965.
2. Crude oil is by far Canada's most profitable commodity, accounting for C$142bn in export value in 2025 alone. https://t.co/GKMkER89wi
Epistemic fragmentation leads to conflict. This is why my colleagues and I are working on rigorous definitions of "politically neutral" AI that are field-tested to maintain trust across people who disagree strongly.
Our first paper and dataset have been accepted to NeurIPS, you can read it here https://t.co/aBUK6X16Xg
Right now, they reach less than 10% of the population. If they had micro payments and a shared digital wallet and added in all the other for-profit news in Canada, they would have a much more successful business, and a much more informed public that relies on facts rather than fiction.
It would also build Canada some digital sovereignty. People ARE willing to pay per article and want to read laterally. Less than 10% of Canadians and Americans pay for a subscription. It’s an old model.
Canada, I have really good news for you. Canada generates the vast majority of the world's supply of tritium, which is a very important ingredient for fusion.
Remember that when the tech bros get frothy over your politics, especially those interested in fusion reactors in space.
You also have a major talent who came from Saskatchewan and is now the head of UKAEA for fusion. Fusion is an incredible opportunity for the US, UK and Canada to lead together. Working together on innovation and hope is our way out of these nutty times, and the fabricated battles politicians create which we all want to ignore.
