🌱 A small group can be the beginning of something much bigger.
In Nepal, Parbati Neupane shares a journey that began with self-help groups and grew into a wider network of women-led enterprises through SEWA.
With training and financial backing, women have been able to strengthen their businesses and connect their products to national and international markets. 🌍
The journey shows how access to skills, resources and networks can help women move from working individually to building enterprises with opportunities to grow.
For Parbati, the story is about more than business. It is about women coming together, learning from one another and creating pathways toward greater economic opportunity. 🤝
This International Year of Women Farmers, let's listen to the stories of women who are turning knowledge and opportunity into action—and helping shape stronger communities along the way.

🤝 What can happen when agricultural cooperatives come together with a shared vision?
In Cambodia, Rith Chantha, Chairwoman of SEUAC, knows the power of collective action.
By bringing together 22 agricultural cooperatives, SEUAC supports more than 12,000 smallholder farmers. Together, these cooperatives are looking beyond the present, using long-term strategic planning through 2030 to strengthen their businesses and create sustainable opportunities for farmers. 🌱
Rith’s leadership reflects an important part of building resilient agricultural communities: coming together, thinking long term and creating solutions that farmers can lead.
From individual farmers to cooperatives to wider networks, every connection can create new opportunities for knowledge, business development and growth.
This International Year of Women Farmers, let's listen to women leaders like Rith who are helping shape the future of agriculture through collective action.

🐄 What happens when farmers have greater control over how their livestock is sold?
For Savita Singh in India, it meant moving away from relying on middlemen and toward a more transparent way of doing business.
On June 1, 2016, Savita and other women established a Farmer Producer Company that enabled women farmers to sell livestock by weight, helping create a clearer and fairer approach to pricing.
For women livestock farmers, this is about more than selling animals. It is about building systems where their work is valued and where they can participate more confidently in decisions that affect their livelihoods. 🤝
Savita’s story shows how collective action can open doors to greater transparency, stronger businesses and new opportunities for women farmers.
🌾 Their stories deserve to be heard.
This International Year of Women Farmers, take a moment to listen—and add your voice to a movement recognizing women’s leadership in agriculture.

🥬 Sometimes, creating opportunity starts with connecting farmers to the right market.
In Bangladesh, Rehana Khatun shares how connecting farmers directly with buyers through Heifer International helped reduce the costs of transporting vegetables to market.
With fewer transportation expenses, farmers were able to improve their profit margins—creating greater motivation to produce and scale their farming businesses. 🌱
For smallholder farmers, access to markets can be just as important as the ability to grow a good harvest. When farmers can connect more directly with buyers, the value of their hard work can reach them more effectively.
Rehana’s story is a reminder that women farmers are not only producers—they are entrepreneurs making decisions, finding opportunities and contributing to stronger local economies. 💚
This International Year of Women Farmers, let's listen to their stories and recognize the role they play in shaping the future of food and agriculture.

“The unseen backbone of agriculture is finally being seen.” 🌾💚
Meet Ashish Joshi, M&E Officer at SAFAL Partners, who has witnessed the transformation of women farmers across Nepal—from silent laborers to confident leaders 👩🌾✨
Women who once lowered their gaze are now negotiating prices, managing businesses, and leading cooperatives across 18 districts 🌱📈
But their journeys are still shaped by risks like delayed payments, climate shocks, and crop loss.
Ashish reminds us that behind every statistic is a woman carrying resilience, strength, and the future of rural communities 🌍

🌱 From daily laborer to thriving farmer, Neang Mao’s journey shows what can happen when farmers have the right tools, knowledge and support to grow.
In Cambodia, joining the Roneam Samaky Agricultural Cooperative gave Mao access to training and resources that helped him take a new direction in farming. With greenhouse farming, he was able to triple his yields, build a steadier income and adopt climate-smart practices that support both his family and the environment. 🌾
But the strength of a cooperative goes beyond what one farmer can achieve alone.
As Saom Kimsan, a Cooperative Leader, puts it: “Before, farmers worked in isolation. Now, we share knowledge and thrive together.”
🤝 By bringing farmers together to exchange knowledge, learn new practices and access opportunities, cooperatives can help create stronger livelihoods and more resilient communities.
▶️ Watch the video and read Mao’s story to learn how collective action helped him sow resilience, reap prosperity and build a more sustainable future.
And this International Year of Women Farmers, let's make space for more stories from the women who are farming, leading and strengthening their communities every day. 🌍💚

➡️ Stronger together: women farmers are building resilience in the face of climate change. 🌱🌍
In rural Bihar, where the impacts of climate change are creating growing challenges for farming communities, women smallholder farmers are coming together to build a stronger future.
Through Heifer International’s Bihar Sustainable Livelihood Development (BSLD) project, nearly 1,000 women have joined forces to form a Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO). By pooling resources, running collective businesses and creating new opportunities, they are strengthening their livelihoods and building resilience together. 🤝
Last year alone, the FPO generated more than 2.4 million rupees.
For Devi, who now serves as President of the FPO, this journey has brought new responsibility, confidence and a vision for what comes next: “Now I have a lot of responsibility here and I really enjoy it. Now we want to grow and grow.”
This is what collective strength can look like—women leading, farmers working together, and communities finding ways to stand stronger in the face of climate challenges. 🌾
As we celebrate the International Year of Women Farmers, stories like Devi’s remind us why it matters to listen to women farmers, recognize their leadership and create space for their voices to shape the future of agriculture.

🌱 What changes when a woman has the opportunity to build an enterprise of her own?
For Dhan Kumari Mahato in Nepal, it meant moving from financial dependence to greater independence and confidence.
Before joining Heifer International, Dhan says she relied completely on her husband and often had to take loans to meet her needs. Through Heifer’s support, she gained agricultural skills and the opportunity to build her own enterprise.
Today, she manages her agricultural business and contributes independently to her household income. Her journey reflects what can happen when women have access to the knowledge, skills and opportunities they need to shape their own livelihoods. 💚
Dhan’s story is one of many that reminds us that empowerment can begin with something as practical as learning a new skill—and grow into greater economic opportunity and agency.
This International Year of Women Farmers, let's listen to the women who are building, leading and growing change in their communities. 🌾

Heifer’s approach trains and equips women and young people as community agro-veterinary entrepreneurs #CAVEs, connecting smallholder farmers with animal health services, climate-smart livestock practices, inputs and markets. With the right investment, the model has the potential to establish 3,000 entrepreneurs serving up to 1.5 million smallholder households.
One message stood out. Scale is not simply about expanding an intervention. It requires the right ecosystem around it, local capacity, trusted partnerships, finance, markets and pathways to long-term sustainability.

⁉️ How do we build a more #ClimateResilient#LivestockSector while recognising the vital role animals play in the lives and livelihoods of billions of people?
This was at the heart 💚 of “Can It Scale? A Pitching Session for Livestock Investment Solutions” at #ClimateWeekNYC, co-hosted by @Heifer International, International Livestock Research Institute (@ILRI ), Environmental Defense Fund and Global Dairy Platform Inc.
We were particularly proud to see Dilip Bhandari, our Sr. Director of Programs - Livestock Technology and One Health, Asia, takes the stage to present a model that addresses a critical gap in rural communities: access to affordable, high-quality animal health services.
Across Asia, Heifer International is harnessing AI and digital innovation to strengthen farmer-led food systems. From AI-powered agricultural advice and climate alerts to livestock health services, market information and access to finance, technology can help farmers make informed decisions and unlock new opportunities.
But innovation only creates lasting impact when it works for the people it serves. That means designing solutions with farmers, adapting them to local languages and contexts, and building on the systems and relationships communities already trust. 🤝
From GeoKrishi SEWA in Nepal to AgriHelp in Bangladesh, these solutions are connecting farmers to the knowledge, services and markets they need to lead stronger, more resilient futures. 💚
Technology can open doors. Together with farmers and partners, we’re working to make sure those doors are accessible to all.

➡️ Breaking down barriers and building a new future, one click at a time. 💻🌱
In the flood-prone farmlands of Sitamarhi, Bihar, the women of Diyamaati Farmer Producer Company are rewriting what’s possible for women farmers.
After navigating geographical and economic challenges, these women are now tackling another barrier: the digital divide. By launching their “Damadar Dana” goat feed brand on IndiaMART, a B2B e-commerce platform, they have expanded their market while gaining new skills, confidence and opportunities to grow their businesses.
For Sunita Devi, a farmer member, collective action has made a difference. “Earlier we marketed alone, and middlemen gave us low rates. Now the FPC does collective marketing, gives us training, and connects us to government schemes that raise our incomes.”
Her story is one of resilience, opportunity and the power of working together. 🤝
🌾 This International Year of Women Farmers, let's listen to stories like Sunita's and recognize the strength, ideas and leadership women bring to agriculture.

“Women farmers are agents of change.” 🌾💚
Meet Kanha Un, Program Officer at Co-Operation for Development of Cambodia (CoDec), who highlights the power of women farmers to transform families, communities, and local economies 👩🌾✨
With the right training and support, even a small plot of land can become a source of income, food security, and opportunity 🌱🤝
Kanha reminds us that when women succeed in agriculture, they create a better future not only for themselves, but for the next generation and their entire communities 🌍
Across Cambodia and beyond, women farmers are proving that resilience, leadership, and innovation can drive lasting change.

🌱 In Cambodia, local knowledge can make a lasting difference for farming families.
After joining Heifer International’s Community Agro-Vet Entrepreneur (CAVE) program in 2018, Phal Yieb gained the skills to care for her animals—from vaccination and disease identification to improved farm hygiene and biosecurity practices.
The impact went beyond healthier livestock. With stronger animal health and improved farming practices, Phal Yieb was able to increase her family’s income. Today, she shares what she has learned with other farmers in her community, helping more families build healthier, more resilient farms. 🤝
Phal Yieb’s story is a reminder of what becomes possible when farmers have the knowledge, tools and opportunity to lead change in their own communities.
This International Year of Women Farmers, let's listen to the stories of women like Phal Yieb—and stand behind their leadership in building stronger, more sustainable food systems. 🌾

Read Gurpreet K Bhatia, SCMP®, Regional Communication Director for Asia, reflecting on Heifer International’s side event, “Financing the Future of Farmer-Led Food Systems in Asia,” at #AVPNGlobalConference2026 in #NewDelhi.
Through our global campaign, #SheHasaStorytoTell. #AreYouListening?, we are creating spaces for women farmers to tell their own stories, rather than having others speak for them.
Ms Tara Devi- Community Agro-Vet Entrepreneur from Bihar, who was present at the AVPN Global Conference, was a powerful reminder of why this matters. Farmer stories deserve not only to be heard and celebrated, but to shape the decisions, investments and policies that affect their lives.

When we say "farmers," why do we rarely picture a woman? 🤔
Women are the backbone of agricultural communities, yet they are too often spoken about or spoken for, rather than truly listened to. True empowerment isn't about speaking on behalf of women farmers—it's about creating the necessary space for them to be heard in their own voices, on their own time, and on their own terms.
That is why Heifer International is proud to launch "She Has a Story to Tell. Are You Listening". This flagship campaign isn't just about sharing stories; it's about amplifying the dignity, leadership, and voices of women farmers who are quietly shaping the world. 🌍
It’s time to listen. 💚
