Today, our Year 12 Economics students enjoyed an inspiring talk from a Bank of England representative about how the Bank manages inflation, sets interest rates, and keeps the UK’s economy stable. A fantastic chance to link classroom learning with real-world economics!

Y13 Economics students had a great trip to Hydes this week. They had a factory tour and were able see the brewing process. The Marketing and HR Managers gave interesting talks about the financial side of the brewery and economic factors that had influenced demand.

Y11 Biologists enjoyed an interactive lesson recently, where they learnt all about DNA and each carefully crafted an intricate DNA model using only jelly babies, strawberry pencils and cocktail sticks.
All students enjoyed partaking in this unique lesson.

We were delighted to welcome many of our Y7 families into school for our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday and had a fantastic time fundraising for this important charity (an enormous thank for your generosity). We are proud to share that we raised a huge sum of £450!
Well done to the Y10 Food & Nutrition students who have recently been focusing on finishing techniques whilst leaning about all about enzymic browning and eating with the seasons. All students have created well-presented apple tarts, showcasing their skills. #achievingsuccess

To celebrate National Poetry Day, students are invited to write a 4 line poem that rhymes on the 2nd & 4th line. The theme is Play. There will be prizes for each year group and an overall winner will be chosen by an external judge. Entries to be submitted in the LRC by 6th Oct.
Our Y7 Student Council (who will be elected very soon) will be hosting our Macmillan Coffee Morning on 26th September. We look forward to welcoming Y7 parents, carers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends and invited community members to help fundraise for this important charity!
On Thursday 25th September 2024 Years 7, 8 and 9 are invited to bring European-themed baking to the Food Studies department. Please bring your baked goods to C54 by 9am in a container, clearly labelled with your name, form, the name of your bake, and what ingredients it contains.
