More bridge traffic woes began today with the federally-mandated inspection of the southbound twin bridge, which will reduce traffic to 1 lane until November 18th.

We responded to a house that caught fire in the 1500 block of Cumnock Street just before 6 a.m. — report of an attic on fire. There was one person in the home at the time of the fire but they were able to get out safely and call 911. No injuries reported.
I would say the HCHS LC volleyball got a pretty good send off🤣 WE CANT WAIT !! Thank you to everyone who gave us an amazing send off, definitely one to remember🥰.
We responded to 2 structure fires within 10 hours of each other recently. The 1st fire was dispatched @ 8:11 pm on Clay St & the 2nd was @ 6:15 this morning on 1st St. There were no injuries reported.
We responded to the 2100 Block of N. Elm just before 3 am this@morning. Crews found heavy fire upon arrival with reports of a person still inside. The person was pulled out by fire crews. The Coroner was called to the scene & the fire is being investigated as a fatal fire.
The KY Trans. Cabinet(KTC) says CSX will close N. Green Street/Hwy60 between 3rd and 4th St. @ the RR overpass on August 7th. Work will be performed overnight beginning @ 6 pm and ending @ 5 am. KTC says that there will be a marked detour for traffic to follow.
We are working a two-vehicle accident at this time that involves a tractor-trailer that is reportedly leaking a substantial amount of fuel. Please avoid the intersection of Second and Green Streets while we work clear this scene as quickly and safely as possible.

Update on fatal accident on the sounthbound twin bridge: According to Kentucky State Police Trooper Cory King, they expect the bridge to be reopened in the next “15 to 20 minutes.”
There was a fatality accident on the southbound twin bridge this morning. Expect major delays crossing the river in both direction for some time.
