@harshacoach Great shout! I made a mixtape of Korean music not too long ago. Love putting these together and sharing them with people

Why is modern South Korea so special?
Because even though Buddhism has had a huge influence on East Asia, it is only here in South Korea that we have Buddha's Birthday as a national holiday while in China, Japan, North Korea, and Vietnam, people still have to go to work🪷🇰🇷
@irenejiyoon Thank you too. Flip shared some pictures with me today. Here's him meeting Park Chung-hee in 1973 at the opening of his grandfather's park in Gangnam
When your grandfather is one of Korea's most important independence activists, your mum created firsts in the Navy, and your uncle has a star on the Hollywood walk of fame, it's amazing to be as chill as Philip Ahn Cuddy

Today is May 18
Koreans remember this as the day their journey towards democracy took a tragic turn. Having been under a military dictatorship for two decades, the people of Gwangju rose up in 1980 and demanded civilian rule. They were murdered in the streets by their government
#Cannes jury president Park Chan-wook says "I don’t think politics and art should be divided."
" I think it’s a strange concept to think that they’re in conflict with each other. Just because a work of art has a political statement, it should not be considered an enemy of art. At the same time, just because a film is not making a political statement, that film should not be ignored. Even if we are to make a brilliant political statement, if it’s not expressed artfully enough, it would just be propaganda. So what I want to say is that art and politics are not concepts that are in conflict with each other, as long as they are artistically expressed, they are valuable."
If you watch K-pop, you're consuming K-content. Stuff designed for international audiences
If you speak Korean and watch/listen to stuff here, you're consuming Korean content
Both are valid. But you shouldn't use K-content to understand Korean culture
