Lots of folks want to "get into infosec" as a red teamer or malware RE making six figures on a M-F/9-5.
It is possible, but if you're really going ground up, helpdesk & SOC might not be glamorous but you'll learn a fuck-ton that will assist you the rest of your career.
Can we all just stop using the word cyber? It's a completely pointless word used as a descriptor but really adds nothing.
For example: Cyber security
The first rule of security in anything as to regards computers is to prevent physical access, maybe to the IT hardware, then logical connectivity, then privileges and maybe even encryption.
So let's just call it security? Even add Physical, IT, Network, Application or other words to better describe the security bit being discussed, but not cyber.
Cyber is an unnecessary adjective and really means nothing to anyone outside of marketing or people talking about things they don't understand, and so add cyber to make it some scary.
Before anyone replies, only do so if you can justify 'cybertruck'.
@danielleradford In my experience: Keep it simple or you'll burn yourself out of caring to keep up with it.
You want to minimize all barriers that get between you and just jotting stuff down in a way you can recognize and find reliably.
Whenever life has got you down, just remember that this professional data broker website that makes money selling personal data on you and me took 5 iterations of their API to land on "Let's just have our clients write raw SQL"
Here's where you opt out. https://t.co/3pwLTzK5GZ
@savesthecat I liked Rekha in the Hershey's Kiss ad that for some reason always played with wildly overcompressed video every time I saw it. Just that one ad, every time. No network issues or buffering on any ads or shows before or after it lol
one of the main narratives about tech from our childhood to young adult years was the concept of “tech literacy”. turns out its completely not real in any way. every technology jump is so large that navigating it, for example - noticing this is AI - is a totally new skill set.
The AI-generated "script" actors were given for the Glasgow Wonka event is.. something. Aside from featuring staging and effects that would be impressive for a moderately-sized West End spectacular, its stage directions also dictate precisely how delighted the audience will be.

a Roger Rabbit sequel where the looney tunes start mysteriously disappearing at the WB lot and in the end they uncover the CEO is deleting them for the insurance money
@IanColdwater It was explained to me like: "have some cake" is already a phrase that we can interpret by itself as "eat some cake". So the phrase is saying "eat some cake and eat it too", implying we can enjoy the same piece of cake twice.
