@HelenRicha53 @MichaelRosenYes I learned to read by osmosis before I started school and then had to learn ITA in the first 2 years of primary school (Scotland in the late 60s). ITA was always a ‘second language’ just for school work because I still read ‘real’ books at home.

@cocteautriplets I wrote my undergraduate dissertation on transport to the Small Isles nearly 40 years ago. Nothing much has changed timetable wise but at least you don’t have to change boats to go ashore any more.
