Over 900 Defence Forces personnel have supported Operation Fianna throughout July, delivering coordinated operations across Dublin, Cork and Mayo in support of Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Bringing together the capabilities of the Joint Task Force, personnel from the Land, Air and Maritime Components have deployed across multiple areas of operations. From maritime and air security and surveillance operations to Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (C-UAS) and other specialist land capabilities, Defence Forces personnel have operated in support of An Garda Síochána and alongside other State agencies.
Every operation has been underpinned by the synchronisation of personnel, assets and capabilities across multiple domains. Operation Fianna continues to demonstrate the Defence Forces' ability to generate coordinated Joint effects, delivering agile and responsive military support when required.
A proud milestone for Ireland's Defence Forces and our international partnerships. 🇮🇪
Today I confirmed the appointment of Ireland's first Defence Attachés to France, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Russian attacks on Ukraine in the last 24 hours claimed civilian lives, including children, and violated Poland’s airspace. This brutality is utterly unacceptable. 🇮🇪 & 🇪🇺 stands with Poland and Ukraine, and will increase pressure on Russia until it ends its brutal war @dfatirl
This is a major milestone that allows us to move ahead with acquiring Ireland's first-ever long-range military radar systems. For the first time, the Defence Forces will have the capability to monitor activity right across our airspace.
Super visit to Finner Camp to meet the personnel of the 28th Infantry Battalion, who serve with dedication at home & on peacekeeping missions overseas. 🇮🇪
Great progress on the new €2.5 million gym, a major investment in the health, wellbeing & training of our Defence Forces.
I want to thank our @defenceforces Air Corps and the Civil Defence who are continuing to assist the National Parks and Wildlife Service, local authorities and local communities services in responding to the wildfire incidents. My thoughts are with those living in impacted areas.
The Irish Air Corps has been assisting National Parks and Wildlife Service personnel in responding to wildfire incidents through emergency aerial firefighting operations.
Working in close coordination with ground crews, Air Corps personnel have provided vital aerial support to help contain the spread of fires, protect sensitive habitats and safeguard surrounding communities.
These operations highlight the versatility of the Defence Forces and our continued commitment to supporting the Principal Response Agencies whenever and wherever required.

Great to speak with the UK Foreign Secretary @Ed_Miliband this morning and congratulate him again on his appointment. We discussed the depth & breadth of relations across our countries, which have further developed in recent years, underpinned by the Ireland-UK Joint Framework.
Deeply shocked by the attack at Berlin’s Christopher Street Day last night. Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones. We wish the injured a quick recovery. Pride celebrates love, tolerance and diversity. 🇮🇪 will continue to advocate for these values @dfatirl
