A free individual was likely to encounter a domestic slave but also one that had authority over them. So yes Africans kept enslaved people.
@OreoluwaKarunw4@Yehgha@usefulcharts@TheEmpireFN Interesting topic. There are several ahistorical characteristics to his argument but I would say the principle one is referring to precolonial Africans collectively as “we” and “us”. It’s the most common disrupter of proper historical perspectives.
