Today, I took the oath as Minister of State for Internal Affairs. I am deeply honoured and grateful to H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the trust and confidence placed in me.

I pledge to serve all Ugandans faithfully, fairly and equally, with humility, integrity and dedication. May Almighty Allah grant me wisdom and strength to fulfil this responsibility and serve our nation to the best of my ability.

Thank you for raising this. Though Uganda already has the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, and regulations governing the collection and processing of personal data. The Personal Data Protection Office is mandated to oversee compliance.

For passport applications, the process is handled through the Government’s e Immigration system under the National Citizenship and Immigration Control.

As we strengthen them further, citizens’ personal information will continue to be handled lawfully, securely and with full accountability.

The Deputy Director Welfare, Production and Sports, SCP Timothy Halango, has led a team of senior officers to inspect police land at Erute and Ireda in North Kyoga Policing Region in Lira City, earmarked for the proposed establishment of a Regional Police Secondary School and a Community Policing Centre of Excellence, respectively.

We are alive to the fact that Information nowadays is a weapon. Uganda is participating in a two day meeting happening in Lyon,France on how INTERPOL collects, processes, stores, exchanges and supervises police data, and measures to protect such confidential data as notices,fingerprints and DNA from misuse.
Ultimately, protecting information is as important as collecting it.

VERY VERY BRUTAL AGAIN

Today morning, we woke up to another brutal murder of a 17 year old girl in Mpuga cell, Kabingo Parish, Buremba Subcounty in Kazo District. The murderer first raped the victim and later killed her before taking off with 2 Million shillings.

So far in a space of two months eleven people have been killed in cold blood in Kazo in the same sytle. Our people no longer sleep, they are in serious fear.

Although some suspects have been apprehended by security agencies, the situation has not changed.

This morning, I was in Mbale City, where I officially opened the renovated Mount Elgon Hotel. The restoration has preserved this historic landmark’s architectural heritage while introducing modern hospitality facilities. The hospitality industry is an important part of the service sector, creating jobs, supporting businesses and contributing to economic growth.
