#Albatross all around the world are suffering from population decline caused by fishing methods, plastic pollution, climate change and other human factors. Scientist study them to inform policy makers how to conserve these biggest of the sea birds! #FrozenPlanet2
The skies over Bird Island are beginning to fill with Grey-headed albatross as they return for the breeding season. We canโt think of many better office views!

Bycatch is the leading driver of declining seabird populations, with at least 600,000 birds killed every year. Check out this animated series to learn more: https://t.co/twGHs17P7d

@KevtheFishermen Ah, yes we work with pelagic/surface longline fleets. Thanks again for replying to our original tweet. All the best from the Hookpod team ๐
The need to end seabird bycatch in tuna longlining is becoming widely accepted. Supermarket Aldi are set to become the first to fund and promote @Hookpod use in their supply chain in 2021! #WorldFisheriesDay
@KevtheFishermen to albatrosses and other seabirds. 15/22 albatross species are facing extinction and accidental bycatch is a main reason for this. https://t.co/7shknaTPMq has lots of info & resources, whilst this page on Hookpod may also be useful: https://t.co/cooV9dnuWM

@KevtheFishermen Hi Kev, thanks for the reply - we work closely with commercial fishers, so we always welcome responses from fishers. It's encouraging to hear you haven't had caught birds but unfortunately that's not the case elsewhere and bycatch in surface longlining is a major threat 1/2
