The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo plans to build a new $300 million agricultural complex off of Highway 288, a few miles south of NRG Park, with a new arena, central building and ranching facilities. BREAKING: President Donald Trump has officially backed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton for Texas’ Republican primary runoff for the U.S. Senate. Paxton is challenging incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in what has been described as a “bitter” campaign.

“I know Ken well, have seen him tested at the highest and most difficult levels, and he is a WINNER!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social on Tuesday.

Houston Mayor John Whitmire will propose an “administrative fee” tied to garbage and recycling pickup next week, his administration told reporters in April.

Starting at $5 per month for the first two years, the fee would gradually ramp up to $25 per month. With about 400,000 customers receiving solid waste services from the city, a $25 monthly fee would more than cover the department's budget of about $100 million.

Mayor John Whitmire is facing formal ethics complaints from the Houston Progressive Caucus over his new podcast, "901 Bagby: Inside the Mayor's Office."

According to members of the caucus, the group filed grievances over the past week with the Texas Ethics Commission, the city of Houston's Inspector General, and the City Controller's waste, fraud and abuse division.

The complaints came after Houston Public Media obtained documents showing the podcast costs up to $60,000 in public funds. Because the podcast is taxpayer-funded, the group argued Whitmire's brief allusion to next year's municipal election during the first episode of the podcast ran afoul of state ethics rules around political advertising.
