📢 THANK YOU - from the bottom of my heart to every single Nebraskan who took a chance on me, and especially to those who donated your time and resources. My family will remember who you are, patriots. We are forever grateful. I’m not going anywhere- I will be here continuing to stand for Christ, our Families, and our Heritage. We are just getting started. SAVE YOUR SIGNS. 💪🇺🇸
🌽 Our struggling farm economy deserves more attention. Farm debt is at a historic high and Nebraska farmers have spent half a decade operating at a loss. This is a dangerous economic situation in our state where the health of the ag economy directly impacts main street businesses. Meaningful policy solutions are urgently necessary to address this modern farm crisis.
It’s tough. I’m in the same boat as hands-on ag producer. I’d say start with: reducing and eliminating emissions standards, produce domestic fertilizer, route applicable tax credits to producers- not big ag, cap soaring insurance costs, find ways to work with states to reduce property taxes, and stabilize trade- fair not free trade.
I appreciate your interest in conversation, Jeff, but this really isn’t the platform or post for you to personally vent about your personal feelings regarding President @realDonaldTrump. But since you brought him up, I voted for him three times, and I do appreciate his hard work to correct many issues. Can’t compare his work ethic, loyalty to America, and business acumen to other modern Presidents or candidates. Really can’t. That’s why he won.
Please feel free to write the @WhiteHouse to share your feelings. Not much I can do for you there.
@BrentBoes78762 A lot depends on climate, soil, market share, and how a family has its equipment and business model setup. Some folks are working that way. I’d like to see healthy policies- not bailouts.
@cs_08_12 Way off topic, but you’re right, no one’s looking for a war but actionable defense must have been necessary. Iran invented modern terrorism. I don’t trust them with a nuke- and I don’t trust a past or future weak President to stop Iran if they’re imminently close to a nuke.
@k59_mike Diversification is helping here and there. Definitely a good solution where feasible. Many producers have their life savings invested in equipment in specific crops and can’t pivot as easy as it may seem. Also, soil, climate, and market share dictate diversification options.
@nssnmp5ffk Cat, I won’t be sending you a book report anytime soon, but you’re certainly welcome to conduct research to your own satisfaction and take these conversations seriously. This is important to thousands of folks across the state.
⛔️ NO to commercial AI Data Centers in Nebraska. I do not want us to be USED by out of state companies for our reliable power grid, abundant water, and accessible real estate- things they’ve abused and have run out of. Slow these conversations down, conduct prudent research, and most importantly- listen to the majority of a constituency.
Makes two of us- and we both chose to live here because of various factors to include quality of life that’s unavailable in locations like DC. It’s not all about jobs and growth at all costs in many locales- Nebraska is one of those places. Let’s slow down the feverish pace, apply research, look at the facts, and request the consent of the people who live here.
@nssnmp5ffk I absolutely have an agenda- one of common sense, preserving The Good Life, and listening to the majority of people who live here. Only older, smaller sites use air cooled or A/C units. The proposed mega sites need massive amounts of water.
These mega facilities will be dinosaurs before the paint dries. The tech is outpacing the footprint that the current models leave. Life is good for Nebraskans- folks like you choose to live here and not California for a reason. No snake oil companies needed under the guise of quality of life improvement.
Cities and counties must have the consent of the residents first and foremost in my view. Then, if invited, such a facility should be heavily scrutinized and the locals should get an amazing deal. One that provides safety escrow accounts, public works funding, and sincerely invests in the local area. Folks are tired of being taken advantage of and getting a losing deal every time an industry must-have, ‘gold rush’ sweeps a county board or city council. Citizens deserve more than a bill in the name of progress.
@DavidMastio As a nation, we must be the best in the world in the tech itself. The concern here is the private sector sprawl in unwanted locations and in an unwanted manner. Folks who live here have the right to decide, and it’s not a favorable industry in their eyes.
