The deployment of the satellite/cell linked buoy for tracking white sharks and other species would not have been possible without the help of @Innovasea and the @OceanTracking - huge thank you to the teams for their hard work to make this possible!!
Recently we deployed a satellite/cell linked buoy between East Ironbound and Seal Ledge. This buoy sits on the surface and gives us periodic updates on any tagged species detected within its range. We we will be posting weekly updates to inform you of any detections! #whiteshark
three years in the making......and now the amazing journey begins on growing the field station and generating data for the incredible white shark in Atlantic Canada. Associated with @iBioUWindsor Kudos to @Loretta04550704 for our logo! @WhiteSharksGlob
Last week we deployed 42 moorings throughout Mahone Bay!
Acoustic receivers on the moorings will detect tagged white sharks (and other fishes, sharks, etc.,) in the area over the summer, and we will download the data in the fall when we pick them back up. 🦈
We’re very excited to announce the launch of the Tancook Islands Marine Field Station!
We are starting research this summer to derive data on #whitesharks and their ecosystem in Atlantic Canada! Stay tuned for more information once our website launches!
As if having parasites in your eyes wasn't bad enough... Now Greenland sharks have to worry about barnacles in their butts!? 🦈😱

For 10+ years, OTN & collaborators at the @husseylab (@uwindsor) have been involved w/ growing an extensive Arctic monitoring program in key coastal and offshore regions of Baffin Bay, supporting research on Greenland halibut, Greenland shark, narwhal, Arctic skate, & more! 1/3
#Bycatch reduction strategy in #ArcticFisheries was assessed using electronic tags on Greenland halibut, Greenland sharks & Arctic skate. Species overlap in deep waters means fisheries should consider new bycatch reduction methods. #FeatureArticle
