Look, I've been in the marketing space long enough to know a holding pattern when I see it, but, I truly, deeply hope the remaining team at id Software go forth into the future with confidence and security, and have the freedom to make great work.

Each platform needs to fill a niche or it won't survive. Even with better UX or features.

Threads seems to be trying to be the old twitter with extra sauce, but is also VERY casual.

Further to this; I'm starting to see little sub niches for each of the micro-blogging platforms:

Twitter is still very "official" yet casual posting/statements, Bluesky is heading in the more technical/dev route, and Threads, well... can't wait for those ads.

Quick update on my Twitter experience since coming back to the platform a week ago for work.

I use the "Clean twitter" plugin, because, gosh, this UX is gross now. Clean twitter, is cleaner, and combine with my keyword blocks, feels much more manageable.
