Nigel Farage called a by-election against a bin to run away from unanswered questions, but the net is closing in.
Grubby pacts, cover-ups, secret gifts, support from a convicted fraudster – it all adds up to a stench of sleaze. The public can smell it.

An amazing night. Ian shared in his remarks that for working class kids, the panto at The Kings was our 1st visit to the theatre. The excitement of getting the bus, feeling these places were for us. Counting the Christmas tree lights on the way home was also a lasting memory 🎄
Really fabulous to be at the reopening of the newly transformed Kings Theatre in Edinburgh and to be given the privilege of saying a few words on the importance of the Kings to culture and to congratulate all @captheatres on a remarkable project.
A real asset to Edinburgh. 👏👏
I’ve known Michael since we came into politics. I know he’s a deep thinker with serious ideas.
He’s passionate about creating jobs & opportunities.
He’s straight talking, honest, rooted in Labour values & has a vision for Scotland.
And a proud Dundonian.
I’m backing Michael.
EXC: ScotGov has declined to commit to a funding package for @Edinburgh_CC after the Princes St blaze.
A spox said gov is 'engaging' with the council, but a leading cllr said there has been no 'meaningful action or offers of support'

And why social care will never be resolved. Robert “asylum hotels” Jenrick offers nothing more than division.
The country is in the state that it’s in because brave politicians can’t make necessary reforms while people like him make matters worse when he caused the problems.
Andy Burnham: "I would never forgive myself" if I didn't try to resolve social care... "but some people will go to great efforts to create scare stories.."
Up pops Robert Jenrick(Reform MP) with a scare story about a social care policy that doesn't exist yet.
It's gold for Team Scotland's Angharad Evans in the women’s 200m breaststroke 🥇
That's a second victory of the Commonwealth Games for the 23-year-old! 👏
'It's humbling'
Andy Burnham praises social care workers, drawing on his own personal experience as his father is in care.

I didn’t know Sir Ian Wood until a few years ago but he was a man of huge business acumen, an inspiration to those that worked with him, and a fabulously supportive person.
It was both an absolute pleasure to know and work with him.
Deepest condolences to his family.
Angharad Evans gets gold!
What a race! The Scot was behind with 25m to go, but she times her finish to perfection to beat South Africa's Aimee Canny to the gold medal by 0.12 seconds!
It's Scotland's fourth gold of the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Pubs deserve our backing. I’m not sure some of @JohnHealey_MP's choices here do though...
Our 20% cut in business rates will benefit thousands of pubs, clubs and music venues across the country.
