Dr. Etenyi emphasized that sustainable peace is nurtured through dialogue, collaboration and mutual understanding while the Regional Youth Coordinator Mr. Cherono underscored the critical role of young people in advancing peace.
The Amani Youth Summit 2026 which was held at the Moi University Annex, School of Law convened over 500 youth representatives from all 47 counties of Kenya to engage in meaningful discussions on peace, social cohesion and youth empowerment.
CEC Trade Dr. Philip highlighted available enterprise funding opportunities for the Uasin Ngishu youth and encouraged them to form cooperatives and actively participate in existing economic empowerment programs.
H.E. the Governor encouraged young people to seek guidance and mentorship from older generations as they pursue their aspirations, while the County Commissioner urged the community to continue fostering peaceful coexistence and harmony.
The Forum convened an Intergenerational Dialogue Forum in Kapenguria aimed at strengthening collaboration between generations for peace, social cohesion and cross-border cooperation within the Karamoja Cluster Region.
In his remarks, PS Fikirini commended the community for its active participation and underscored the importance of different generations working together to develop sustainable solutions to shared challenges.
Stakeholders commended the forum’s impactful work and reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating on future programs and regional initiatives that empower young people as drivers of peace and transformation.
The ICGLR Regional Youth Forum today convened a Stakeholders Engagement Breakfast Meeting, bringing together partners and development actors committed to advancing the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda across the ICGLR region.
The engagement provided a platform to showcase RYF’s vision, ongoing initiatives and strategic partnership opportunities aimed at strengthening youth participation in peace-building, governance and sustainable development.
Remarks were also delivered by Rachetée Rachel Kombela the 1st Vice President of the Youth General Assembly, who encouraged youth in conflict affected areas, emphasized the importance of collaboration and sustained youth-led action in advancing regional priorities.
On the 2nd day of the Executive Committee Meeting,members engaged in discussions focused on the reorganization of the forum’s organogram,reviewing operational challenges & exploring sustainable mechanisms to strengthen the effectiveness &long-term sustainability of the ICGLR-RYF.
The session concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Thomas Mose, Regional Coordinator, ICGLR-RYF, who commended members for their commitment, constructive engagement and collective dedication towards building a stronger and more impactful regional youth platform.
During the afternoon session, members reviewed the status of the operationalization of the ICGLR Regional Youth Forum. Dr. Francis Nderitu, PhD, highlighted key milestones, ongoing activities and strategic priorities for strengthening the Forum's institutional development.
