Some of the world's greatest protectors don't just stand tall, they grow deep!

Mangroves occupy a small fraction of the world, yet they play an outsized role in protecting coastlines, storing carbon, supporting biodiversity, sustaining coastal livelihoods and building our planet's resilience.

ICICI Foundation has partnered with the Tamil Nadu Forest Department (@tnforestdept) to restore a vital coastal wetland ecosystem - The Buckingham Canal.

The initiative spans 50 acres and integrates scientific restoration measures, including an innovative Fishbone Canal System and the plantation of 20,000 native mangrove saplings across five indigenous species, helping revive ecological balance and strengthen long-term coastal resilience.

Our skilling interventions encompass supporting advanced lab set-ups for industry 4.0 aligned trades in partnership with different institutions! These labs are equipped with advanced technology and equipment for hands-on-training and immersive experience, facilitating opportunities for the community to access advanced skill training and move ahead.

We have supported about 66 lab setups where 84,000+ individuals have received skill training! Here's to building capabilities and creating opportunities.

Quality healthcare begins with strong institutions, accessible infrastructure, skilled healthcare professionals and timely care. From supporting the creation and upgradation of healthcare facilities and expanding access to advanced treatment, to strengthening capacity building and early diagnosis, our interventions aim to make quality healthcare, both preventive and curative, more accessible and affordable for all. Forests are the foundation of life.

This World Environment Day, we take you into the lush wilderness of the Satpura Tiger Reserve @satpura_tr in Madhya Pradesh.

In partnership with the Madhya Pradesh State Forest Department @minforestmp, @ICICIFoundation (the CSR arm of ICICI Bank) has been supporting ecological management and wildlife conservation across the reserve while helping strengthen the communities living around it.

Together, we have contributed to:
- A 5x increase in the Barasingha population—from 16 to 79 in the Matkuli range
- Development of a 20-hectare enclosure with 1,800 metres of specialised fencing
- Revival of 79 ponds and creation of 74 new ponds, with an annual water storage capacity of nearly 25 crore litres
- Donation of 20 fire blowers, helping prevent many forest fires
- Rescue of 75 wild animals
- Installation of 270 camera traps for wildlife monitoring
- Positive impact on over 16,000 lives across 89 villages
- Empowerment of 126 women through 13 Self-Help Groups

When species disappear, an ecosystem loses its balance, but when habitats are restored, nature finds its way back!

From supporting habitat development for the endangered Barasingha in Satpura Tiger Reserve, contributing to a rise in its population, to enabling conservation interventions across forests pan-India, we are working to strengthen ecosystems through water and soil conservation structures, habitat restoration and development, renewable energy initiatives, security and surveillance support and livelihood.

These efforts are supporting habitats that are home to endangered species like Great Indian Bustard in Rajasthan, Red Panda in Neora Valley National Park and Giant Squirrel in Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary.

Imagine flying across countries… and still knowing exactly where the home is. For thousands of migratory birds, that home is Kolleru Wildlife Sanctuary.

To strengthen the habitat and make it even more suitable, we have donated 100 bird perching stands. These perching stands offer resting spots, roosting spaces and points for feeding and nesting behaviour while helping birds conserve their energy for further travel.

In the Wetlands of Kolleru, which welcomes more than 13,000 lakhs winged travellers, these stands help strengthen the habitat by adding safe resting infrastructure within the ecosystem.

Because every journey deserves a safe place to pause, and every ecosystem deserves a chance to thrive.

On this World Earth Day, we bring you the true story of the “Namma Kere” (our lake)-the Alkoda lake.

Based in Raichur district of Karnataka, this 100-acre waterbody was crucial to the primary profession of the region, its farmers.

A few years back, the lake had become dry due to erratic rainfall, weed and silt accumulation, severely affecting its water holding capacity. Farmers were barely able to grow one crop a year and were forced to move out of their villages in search of other livelihoods.

With the collaborative efforts of @ICICIFoundation - the CSR arm of ICICI Bank, Gram Panchayat and local communities, things began to change.

What was once considered a dry, forgotten lake has become a thriving water body today.

The revival of the 100-acre lake has:
- Created 64 crore litres of annual water holding capacity
- Brought 600 acres of land under cultivation
- Replenished groundwater enabling the creation of 80 new borewells

Cancer is never one story. It’s experienced differently by every patient, every family, every caregiver.

Through our cancer care initiatives, we are working to make early diagnosis, advanced treatment, and quality care more accessible so no one has to fight alone, or fight late.

Our interventions include creating new facilities such as the three new cancer care buildings that we are creating in collaboration with Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), donating advanced equipment such as Linear Accelerators (LINACs), CT Simulators, robotic surgical sets and others to cancer speciality hospitals like Christian Medical College, Vellore, Cancer Institute (WIA), Chennai, ACTREC, Navi Mumbai, Malabar Cancer Centre, Kerala and likewise.

Meghalaya, the land of clouds, is well documented for its scenic landscapes and plentiful rainfall.

To translate this abundance of rainfall into availability of drinking water for communities, in 2024, @ICICIFoundation, the CSR arm of ICICI Bank, stepped in by introducing the Springwater Harvesting System.

Through this initiative, water from hilltop springs is diverted through pipelines, collected and stored in tanks, filtered, and then distributed to nearby homes.

With this, communities across villages in Ri-Bhoi and East Jaintia Hills do not have to walk kilometres to fetch water.

They now have access to year-round safe drinking water in the vicinity of their villages: improving quality of life and strengthening communities across generations.

By March 31, 2025, these water conservation efforts resulted in:
- 225 km of pipeline network connecting 78 springs to 45 villages
- 4.5 million litres of annual water storage created
- 30,000+ lives benefitted across the region

This initiative has helped ensure year-round access to clean drinking water, improving quality of life and strengthening communities across generations.

Energy Conserved is Impact Multiplied

Highlighting our renewable energy initiatives on #NationalEnergyConservationDay

We have been intervening in this domain for years and have been able to create a solar power capacity of 12.9k kW across 4,035+ institutions in 22 states! Our sites include the schools, colleges, municipal offices, cantonments, hospitals, forests, and such spaces. One key project has been supporting the transition of 3 villages of Spiti to solar along with the highest operational post office in the world. We are working to reduce dependence on conventional sources, lower carbon footprints, and create resilient systems that serve communities and ecosystems alike.

From promoting solar solutions to integrating clean energy into development projects, our focus remains on conservation that goes beyond savings, towards sustainability and long term impact.
