Day 2 of the #JapanLAC Business Forum 2026 was all about turning dialogue into business opportunities between #Japan and #LatinAmerica and the #Caribbean.

🤝 Business matchmaking connected Japanese companies and investors with private-sector firms and Investment Promotion Agencies from 21 IDB Group member countries, generating 660 one-on-one meetings.

🌎 Participants explored investment opportunities across the region, while practical seminars highlighted IDB-financed procurement opportunities through BID for the Americas and new avenues for collaboration under the Japan–LAC Business and Financial Partnership.

At the IDB Group, we continue connecting companies, investors, projects, and partners to turn opportunities into concrete business collaborations that drive investment and growth across the region.

Today, leaders from #Japan, #LatinAmerica, and the #Caribbean came together to strengthen partnerships, unlock investment opportunities, and advance solutions for sustainable growth.

This year's summit marked a historic milestone: 50 years of Japan's membership in the IDB Group. And our longstanding partnership continues to focus on innovation, resilience, and shared prosperity.

Discussions focused on high-impact sectors, including agribusiness and food systems, digital transformation, disaster-risk management, energy security and critical minerals, the silver economy, trade and investment, and venture capital and innovation.

The IDB Group is strengthening our partnership with @jica_direct_en – expanding resources to $6.5 billion, which, combined with the expected co-financing this generates, means $14 billion in financing for development in Latin America and the Caribbean.

La ministra de Finanzas de Japón, Satsuki Katayama, y el presidente del Grupo BID, @igoldfajn, inauguraron hoy en Tokio el Foro Empresarial Japan-LAC 2026.

Durante dos días, el Foro reúne a más de 1.000 participantes y 400 empresas de 24 países para impulsar los negocios, la inversión y el comercio entre Japón y América Latina y el Caribe.

Con motivo del 50.º aniversario de la alianza entre Japón y el Grupo BID, anunciamos un histórico paquete de cooperación que amplía los recursos de la Agencia de Cooperación Internacional del Japón (JICA) para generar aproximadamente US$14.000 millones en financiamiento para la región; establece la Iniciativa de Resiliencia de Japón, con US$30 millones en recursos no reembolsables para minerales críticos y otras áreas; crea un nuevo instrumento de transferencia de riesgo mediante el seguro de préstamos de NEXI para operaciones del BID; renueva el acuerdo con el Banco Japonés para la Cooperación Internacional (JBIC) para identificar oportunidades de cofinanciamiento; e incorpora nuevos acuerdos en salud, cuidados e infraestructura.
