Energy storage could be one of the clearest tests of that equation. India’s operational storage capacity stood at around 54 GWh in June 2026, while requirements could rise to approximately 411 GWh by FY32, potentially requiring around $42 billion in storage-related investment over the next six years.

India’s domestic capital base is deepening just as the scale of its infrastructure requirements is accelerating.

In 2026, India’s energy investment is expected to reach a record $170 billion, with another $26 billion projected for transmission and distribution alone. The question is increasingly not just how much capital can be mobilised, but where it is deployed and how effectively it can be translated into long-term infrastructure.

That conversation has been reflected across IGF platforms.

Major sporting events can leave a legacy far beyond the final medal.

India’s capital markets have grown at remarkable speed. The next phase will be about widening who participates in that growth.

In this episode of Views You Can Use, Radhika Gupta (@iRadhikaGupta), MD & CEO, Edelweiss Financial Services Limited (@EdelweissMF), makes the case for bringing more Indians into the country’s capital markets and expanding the universe of high-quality listed companies available to them.

The momentum is already visible, according to the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), monthly SIP contributions reached ₹32,297 crore in August 2026. India’s mutual fund industry stood at ₹87.08 lakh crore in assets under management as of 31 August 2026, nearly six times its size a decade ago.

Yet participation tells another side of the story. According to SEBI’s Investor Survey 2025, only 9.5% of Indian households participate in securities-market products, despite 63% being aware of them. The divide is particularly visible geographically, with participation at 15% among urban households compared with 6% among rural households.

That gap is also the opportunity: turning India’s growing culture of investing into broader participation, deeper domestic capital pools and greater access to the country’s long-term growth story.

India Global Forum (IGF), in partnership with @nanopore (Oxford Nanopore Technologies), convened the 'From National Genomics to Global Leadership: Accelerating the UK-India Genomics Partnership' roundtable in New Delhi.
The roundtable followed the signing of a new letter of intent between Oxford Nanopore Technologies and CSIR-IGIB, reflecting the growing momentum in UK–India genomics collaboration.

The closed-door discussion was co-chaired by @FCDO_Ben (Ben Mellor), Deputy High Commissioner, @UKinIndia (British High Commission), New Delhi, and Sarah Cooper, Minister Counsellor & Director, Development, Climate, Science & Technology, British High Commission, New Delhi, and curated by William Carne, Director – Programmes, IGF. It built on the growing UK–India relationship across science, technology and health, including frameworks such as Vision 2035, the Technology Security Initiative (TSI) and the UK–India Free Trade Agreement (CETA).

@dasgobardhan (Prof. Gobardhan Das), Member, @NITIAayog (NITI Aayog), shared his reflections on the opportunity for the UK and India to bring their respective expertise together in genomics and the wider bioeconomy.

The roundtable brought together senior leaders from India's scientific and research ecosystem, including the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA), Tata Institute for Genetics and Society (TIGS), BRIC-National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (BRIC-NIBMG), Centre for Brain Research (CBR), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (CSIR-IGIB), CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CSIR-CCMB), BRIC-Institute of Life Sciences (BRIC-ILS), and Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI), among others.

The conversation marked the start of a new chapter for both countries with regard to shared scientific ambition and complementary strengths. India's Genome India programme has laid an important foundation, and the next phase offers an opportunity to deepen the scientific and clinical value this partnership can generate. Drawing on the combined experience the UK and India bring to population-scale sequencing, secure data infrastructure and the translation of genomic research into clinical care, important healthcare outcomes can be achieved in both countries.

India’s semiconductor story is getting bigger, but the real story lies beyond the chip itself.

The Government of India’s approval of Semicon 2.0 marks a significant step forward, with an outlay of ₹1,27,500 crore aimed at strengthening India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
