On 5 June 2026, IIIDEM convened the evening session of the EMB Working Group Meeting under India’s Chairship of International IDEA, bringing together representatives from Brazil, Croatia, Guyana, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Mauritius, Portugal, Romania, UK and USA.
The session provided an overview of the thematic priorities under India’s Chairship, highlighted progress on ongoing thematic work, consultations and questionnaire responses received from EMBs, and discussed forthcoming workshops, roadmaps and knowledge products being developed to strengthen the professionalism, institutional capacity and resilience of Election Management Bodies.

A meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Shri Rakesh Kumar Verma, Director General, IIIDEM, with the Offices of the Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) of all States and Union Territories to deliberate on the thematic initiatives being undertaken by the Institute.
During the meeting, the progress and key aspects of the thematic work were reviewed in detail. These initiatives are aimed at developing model standards, identifying emerging global themes, formulating global roadmaps, and producing policy briefs, knowledge products, and practical tools to support electoral management.
The thematic work also seeks to establish model international electoral standards and document global best practices, innovations, and advancements in electoral processes.
The meeting provided an opportunity to assess the progress achieved thus far and to solicit valuable inputs from the Offices of the Chief Electoral Officers for further strengthening, refinement, and expansion of these thematic initiatives.
