IIT Kanpur Hosts Workshop on Next-Generation Stealth Antennas and Reconfigurable Electromagnetic Structures for Strategic Airborne Applications

The Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur, organised a three-day workshop on “Next-Generation Stealth Antennas and Reconfigurable Electromagnetic Structures for Strategic Airborne Applications” under the aegis of the DRDO-Industry-Academia Centre of Excellence (DIA-CoE), IIT Kanpur.

The workshop brought together 70 participants from India’s defence, academic, research and industrial ecosystem, with representation from RCI, ADE, LRDE, DLRL, DMSRDE, ITR, CFEES and CEMILAC, along with experts from IITs, IIITs, universities, research institutions and technology companies.

Featuring 15 technical sessions, a panel discussion, industry interactions, an exhibition and laboratory visits, the programme covered stealth antennas, radar cross-section (RCS) analysis, reconfigurable metasurfaces, infrared camouflage, advanced electromagnetic materials, manufacturing technologies for stealth systems and radar technologies.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. N. Ranjana, Outstanding Scientist and Director, DFTM, DRDO, in the presence of Prof. Jayandharan G. Rao, Dean, Research & Development; Prof. Saikat Chakrabarti, Head, Department of Electrical Engineering; Dr. Meena Mishra, Director, DIA-CoE; Prof. Kumar Vaibhav Srivastava; and Prof. Raghvendra Kumar Chaudhary, IIT Kanpur.

The workshop which successfully concluded on 20 September 2026, strengthened collaboration among DRDO scientists, academic researchers and industry experts, providing a platform to advance next-generation electromagnetic technologies and indigenous technologies for future strategic airborne applications.

IIT Kanpur Observes Swachhata Hi Seva 2026

IIT Kanpur is organising daily cleaning drives across the campus as part of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026, being observed from 17 September to 17 October 2026 with the theme "Swachhata Mein Sahbhag; Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat."

The initiative includes cleaning drives across public spaces, hostels, academic areas and residential areas, along with awareness sessions on the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.

Through these activities, IIT Kanpur is contributing to the national campaign and encouraging active participation towards a cleaner and more sustainable campus and nation.

IIT Kanpur Expands Digital Skills Programme to 900 Secondary School Teachers Across Uttar Pradesh 💻📚

Prof. Ramkumar J., Coordinator, DLCCAI Programme; Prof. Satyaki Roy, Head, @dodiitk and Academic Head, DLCCAI; and Prof. Vimal Kumar, Professor-in-Charge, @OOA_IIT_Kanpur, are leading the expansion of the Digital Literacy & Computational Thinking Concepts for Teachers (DLCCAI) programme to secondary education.

In collaboration with the @UPGovt and @SCERT2021, the programme will train 900 participants from all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh in digital literacy, computational thinking, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and technology-enabled teaching.

The eight-week blended programme, conducted in six batches of 150 participants each, combines classroom training at IIT Kanpur with online learning, mentoring and hands-on assignments. Participants will be introduced to digital tools, cybersecurity, Scratch, Python, AI, EdTech and Robotics, with a focus on practical applications in teaching and academic work.

The initiative builds on the earlier training of 750 primary school teachers, which helped enable technology-supported learning for more than 10,000 students. The DLCCAI curriculum is also embedded in SCERT’s Class 6–8 textbooks, reaching an estimated 48 lakh students across Uttar Pradesh.

Videos were also showcased, highlighting how participating teachers from last year took their learnings beyond the classroom and used digital skills to create a wider impact in their schools and communities.

Aligned with the objectives of NEP 2020, the programme aims to equip teachers with the skills and confidence to integrate digital and computational concepts into classroom teaching.

IIT Kanpur’s Vision for the Future of Medical Education

Rethinking Teaching and Learning at IIT Kanpur

How can teaching evolve to respond to the changing needs and experiences of students?

In an interview with @htTweets, faculty members from IIT Kanpur’s Centre for Educational Research and Teaching Excellence (CERTEX) discuss the Centre’s efforts to strengthen teaching and learning through collaboration, student feedback, data and continuous reflection.

CERTEX brings together faculty from different disciplines to share teaching practices and explore new approaches to classroom learning. Its initiatives include workshops on TA training, core course and laboratory modernisation, communication, visual communication, and AI in higher education.

The Centre also organises the Chalk Talk Series, where distinguished faculty members from the Institute share their teaching experiences and discuss their approaches, methods and practices in the classroom.

Through student feedback and surveys, CERTEX also seeks to better understand learning experiences and explore ways to make classrooms more engaging through hands-on learning, real-world applications and innovative assignments.

Wadhwani–IIT Kanpur Innovation Centre Launched to Advance Life Sciences & MedTech Research 🧬🏥

Prof. Jitendra Bera, Dean of Faculty Affairs, IIT Kanpur; Dr. Upendra Kumar Singh, Director General, @DRDO_India, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India; Dr Shirshendu Mukherjee, Managing Director, Wadhwani Innovation Network; Prof. Ashok Kumar, Professor-in-Charge, WIN-CoE, IIT Kanpur; and Dr. Santosh K. Misra, Co-Professor-in-Charge, WIN-CoE, IIT Kanpur, were present at the inauguration of the Wadhwani Innovation Centre for Life Sciences and Medical Technologies at IIT Kanpur.

The Centre will receive USD 5 million over five years to support the development, validation and commercialisation of promising innovations in life sciences, biotechnology, medical technologies and AI-enabled healthcare.

Building on IIT Kanpur’s biomedical research strengths, the Centre will help take promising ideas from the laboratory to real-world healthcare applications, supporting researchers with validation, intellectual property, regulatory pathways, industry partnerships, technology transfer and commercialisation.

The Centre will focus on areas including therapeutics, regenerative medicine, drug delivery, vaccines, medical devices, diagnostics, neurodegenerative diseases, mental health, antimicrobial resistance and AI-enabled healthcare.

The inauguration was followed by a workshop on “Translational Research and Regulatory Pathways: Bridging Innovation to Healthcare Impact”, bringing together experts from regulatory agencies, academia, healthcare, industry and the innovation ecosystem.

The Wadhwani–IIT Kanpur Innovation Centre is part of the Wadhwani Innovation Network (WIN) - IITK, an initiative of the @wadhwanif to strengthen research translation and commercialisation across India.
