For nearly a year now, the IMF Regional Training Program for South America and Mexico, hosted in Asunción by Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP), has been helping strengthen the capacity of policy institutions in the region.
During the IMF’s Spring Meetings, the Governor of the Central Bank of Paraguay, Carlos Carvallo Spalding, and the directors of the IMF’s Western Hemisphere Department and Institute for Capacity Development, Nigel Chalk and Catriona Purfield, met to take stock of the first months of the program and discuss its prospects.
As the program approaches the second year of the pilot phase, courses have been receiving high ratings from participants. IMF Regional Training Program for South America and Mexico is a partnership that forms a good basis for future capacity development work in the region.
